25 best beers in America, from Men’s Journal

This seems familiar, but I don’t seem to have blogged about it yet: the 25 Best Beers in America, from Men’s Journal. (It’s dated from October 2006.) You might remember they listed their Best Beers in the World back in 2005, which I did blog about.

Interesting list. I’ve only had six of the 25, so I can’t speak to the merits of the other 19… but it’s a solid six. The other thing I’ll give them credit for is they’ve definitely put some thought into their picks. Check it out.

  1. Out of 25 beers, it’s nice to see 3 from Oregon and 2 from Michigan (my homestate). And, while I’ve not had any of the specific beers, I have had others from the Oregon breweries and one from Bell’s in Michigan. Bell’s Pale Ale is really really good. So good, I brought a couple back with me my last trip to Kazoo – with my carry on luggage, and drank it on the plane with my little $5 pre-packaged snack of crackers and pepperoni. True midwest snack: fake cheese, cured meat and a good beer.

  2. Yea I was pretty happy to see the North East represented. Specifically Victory and Ommegang because the others I have either not heard of (south hampton) or they are well on their way (DFH and Smutty).

Victory has been all over the place as of late. Great work.
