Advent Beer Calendar 2014: Day 22: Red Hill Christmas Ale
Today’s Advent beer pick takes us down under to Australia, where they just celebrated their Summer Solstice and are enjoying warm weather. Red Hill Brewery is “a unique, independent microbrewery located amidst it’s own hop garden on the top of Red Hill on the beautiful Mornington Peninsula.” If you visit you can even stay in their Brewer’s Cottage located on the property!
They are focusing on European style beers and appropriately, their Christmas Ale is inspired by the Belgian traditions:
Intense Belgian Abbey style, deep orange in colour with a lasting creamy head. Fruity, spicy and jolly to match the Christmas pud, features Hallertauer & Tettnanger hop flowers with a complex malty finish. Brewed with almost religious fervour, with extra long maturation and dry hopped in serving tanks creating intense hop aroma.
It’s 8.3% abv which will bring a warming touch to your Christmas tradition—even if you’re enjoying summertime Christmas down under.
