Advent Beer Calendar 2015: Day 11: Brooklyn Winter Ale
For today’s Advent beer pick I’ve gone a little old school and selected a beer from New York’s Brooklyn Brewery: their Brooklyn Winter Ale. This is a rich, Scottish-style ale brewed to 6.1% abv with a malt bill that just sounds delicious: Scottish Floor-malted Maris Otter, English crystal malts, Belgian Aromatic malt, American roasted malts, and American oats.
When winter brings you darkness and cold, Brooklyn Winter Ale is there to help you shake off the chill. Inspired by the old ales of blustery Scotland and brewed in defiance of the cold wind off the East River, our Winter Ale is richly malty, aromatic, full-bodied and delicious. Its lightly roasted and caramelized flavors are perfect with stews, roasts, holiday dishes and many cheeses. And, of course, it’s very nice all by itself. See – you’re feeling warmer already!
Brooklyn brews in both the United States and Sweden, the latter at a joint brewery opened with yesterday’s Advent brewer, the Carlsberg Group. They will be opening a second European brewery together in Norway as well.
Crack open a bottle of their Winter Ale to celebrate the coming holidays and winter months. Cheers!
