Christmas in Kentucky! That’s where today’s Advent beer pick comes from—West Sixth Brewing in Lexington, Kentucky. And in fact they are in the middle of their own similarly themed event, their 12 Days of Beer, and releasing a special bourbon barrel aged Barleywine—but that’s not today’s pick for the Beer Advent Calendar. Rather I’ve selected their Christmas Ale as today’s highlight.

The West Sixth Christmas Ale is spiced ale with aroma of cinnamon and nutmeg with a sturdy malt backbone that will hold up to the chilliest of nights.

It’s a higher gravity beer weighing in at 9% ABV. This is our slightly darker take on a holiday beer – perfect for evenings by the fire.

This can is only available in limited quantities during the holiday season.

It’s a hefty beer that they’ve spiced with ginger, cinnamon, nutmeg, cardamom, cloves, and orange peel, a nice holiday blend overall. And it’s always fun to get a holiday ale in a can, and I particularly like the festive design of West Sixth’s. Cheers!
