Advent Beer Calendar 2015: Day 9: Moylan’s White Christmas Spiced Winter Lager
Today’s Beer Advent Calendar pick comes from a classic song line and wish for Christmas—namely, that it be “white.” But today’s beer isn’t the Belgian-styled Wit you might be thinking; instead, it’s Moylan’s White Christmas Spiced Winter Lager from Moylan’s Brewery out of Novato, California.
It’s the most wonderful time of the year, with the kids Jingle-belling and everyone yelling “brew us new beers!” And so we did. In celebration of the season, Moylan’s presents our White Christmas Spiced Winter Lager. Malty and smooth with a light tart and zesty finish, this year’s Lager contains holiday spices, Curacao, Mace, Cinnamon, Coriander and White Pepper. This Holiday Lager will warm you and your sweetie inside and out. Share the love and make it a White Christmas. You’ll get a kick out of it. Happy Holidays, and Slainté!
Moylan’s has been open since 1995—20 years this year!—and founder Brendan Moylan originally caught the brewing bug when, “One January I went out and bought the Christmas gift I really wanted: a beer brewing kit, and one thing led to another.” Appropriate for this time of year!
White Christmas sounds like an interesting blend of malty lager with Belgian Wit and Saison traditions, and is 6% alcohol by volume. A unique take on the holidays for sure. Cheers!
