Advent Beer Calendar 2017: Day 24: McMenamins Kris Kringle
It’s the final day of the Beer Advent Calendar, and I hope you enjoyed following along this year as we counted down the days to this Christmas Eve! On this final day I’ve chosen the holiday seasonal from the McMenamins chain of brewpubs that span Oregon and Washington: Kris Kringle. This is a classic winter warmer, malty and nutty with caramel and dried fruit notes.
Just in time for the holidays, the McMenamins Brewers have created another gift for your tastebuds! This year’s winter warmer is a hearty and robust ale with a big and bold malt complexity. Toasty, caramel and fig flavors make up its sturdy foundation while two hop varieties added in five different additions deliver magnificent and intense hop flavor and aroma. Happy holidays!
One of the most interesting things about this beer is that there is never just one version. There are 24 different breweries of various sizes within the McMenamins empire, and though they all follow the same recipe, there are always variations in systems and processes. That means there are two dozen versions of Kris Kringle floating about the Pacific Northwest!
That sounds like a Christmas miracle to me!
