Advent Beer Calendar 2017: Day 5: Frankenmuth Christmas Town Ale
December 5 in the United States is Repeal Day, celebrating the repeal of Prohibition on this day in 1933. It’s an important milestone on the history of beer (and alcohol in general) in the U.S., so to commemorate the day, today’s Advent beer pick comes from Frankenmuth Brewery out of Michigan, which dates its history back to pre-Prohibition, 1862: their Christmas Town Ale.
Christmas Town Ale combines sweet toasted dark malts with American hops to create a medium-bodied spiced ale with a taste and aroma that is unmistakably Christmas. You will enjoy subtle notes of nutmeg, ginger, cinnamon and clove with our festive holiday-themed packaging to match the taste. Christmas Town Ale is a must-have brew in the wintertime.
A classic American winter warmer holiday beer, at 6% ABV and 22 IBUs. I really rather like the label design, which reminds me of a miniature (toy) Christmas village; you could almost use the packaging for a holiday beer diorama! (New holiday tradition?)
