Advent Beer Calendar 2018: Day 10: Dancing Camel Cherry Vanilla Stout
Today is the last day of Hanukkah, so to commemorate the holiday I’ve selected a Hanukkah beer from an Israeli brewery, Dancing Camel Brewing Company: Cherry Vanilla Stout.
Dancing Camel is a brewery I hadn’t encountered before, but it’s been open for 13 years:
The Dancing Camel Brewery is Israel’s first microbrewery. Incorporated in 2005, The Dancing Camel has been dedicated to making a true Israeli beer. Down the street from a 5000 year old Egyptian brewery in the heart of Tel Aviv the brewery is centrally located. By converting a grain storage facility built in the 1930s, The Dancing Camel Brewery is a testament to Israel’s progress, making the old new while retaining a connection to the history of the land.
The brewery focuses on using local ingredients to make a true Israeli beer, covering a wide range of styles. Hanukkah calls for a special beer, one that sounds a bit like a pastry stout but remains an easy drinking 5% alcohol by volume. The brewery says:
An epic collision of a jelly donut, a cup of espresso and a pint of beer, brewed once a year for the Holiday of Hanukkah. So warming, it’ll leave you wishing for eight more days.
And Untappd has this description:
Famed in story and song, our epic collision of a pint of beer with a double espresso and a jelly donut. Brewed for the holiday of Chanukah, there is nothing subtle about this beer. Sweet, rich and warmly satisfying, with aromas of Borkum Riff pipe tobacco and your dad’s tweed jacket, the beer to light up your Menorah brighter than a Christmas tree at Rockefeller Center.
Hanukkah sameach!
