Advent Beer Calendar 2018: Day 4: Hardywood Park Gingerbread Stout
Did you know that December 4 is National Cookie Day? It’s pretty easy to celebrate—eat some cookies! And it’s perfectly appropriate this time of year when Christmas baking is taking place. So what better inspiration for today’s Advent beer pick than a cookie-themed beer!
I’ve chosen a popular spiced imperial stout from Virginia for today’s Christmas cookie beer: Hardywood Park Gingerbread Stout. Billed as an imperial milk stout with ginger and honey, this beer is 9.2% alcohol by volume and is also the base for a whole bunch of barrel-aged variants.
Made with baby ginger from Casselmonte Farm and wildflower honey from Bearer Farms, Hardywood Gingerbread Stout captures the terroir of Central Virginia in a rich, creamy libation with a velvety mouthfeel and an intriguing evolution of notes from milk chocolate and vanilla, to honeycomb and cinnamon, to a snap of ginger in the finish. We hope Hardywood Gingerbread Stout contributes to your merriment this season.
This is also the base for Hardywood’s Christmas Morning, so this is a beer that definitely highlights the season, and brings home gingerbread cookies in a bottle for this National Cookie Day.
