Advent Beer Calendar 2019: Day 11: Broughton Ales Santa’s Stout
For today’s Advent beer pick we’re visiting Scotland and the Broughton Ales Brewery for a taste of its coffee oatmeal stout that’s perfect for the holidays: Santa’s Stout. This easy-drinking festive stout is brewed with fresh Edinburgh espresso and is full of chocolate and coffee notes. The brewery says, “Hold it to your nose, and you get a vanilla scent, and then taste the smooth, chocolate, stout taste.”
Broughton Ales is located in the Scottish Borders and was established in 1979 and “was the first initiated Scottish microbrewery.” The brewery ferments in traditional open vessels and produces a variety of beers—cask conditioned, of course, as well as in bottles and kegs.
Santa’s Stout is 4.4% alcohol by volume and would be an ideal yuletide cask pull at your local pub. Perhaps while you’re there you’ll see Santa himself sipping on a pint…
