Advent Beer Calendar 2021: Day 4: Fifty West Brewing X-Mas Cookie
Today, December 4, is National Cookie Day, dedicated to celebrating cookies of all kinds—and Christmas cookies in particular! Because it’s fun and whimsical, to commemorate the day I selected an Advent beer suitably themed to match: X-Mas Cookie from Ohio’s Fifty West Brewing, a winter warmer inspired by fresh-baked oatmeal cookies.
If you could taste jolly, this would be it. A winter warmer brewed with deep caramel malts, cinnamon, nutmeg, and ginger – all the ingredients you would put into an oatmeal cookie Santa would love.
It’s 6% alcohol by volume and a six-pack of these left out for Santa in place of cookies (or even better—paired with cookies!) will definitely make the big man happy on Christmas night!
Fifty West takes its name from U.S. Route 50, which “passes through 12 states from Ocean City, Maryland to Sacramento, California,” and accordingly, the Cincinnati-based company placed one of its multiple location on the 50. The brewery’s beers are inspired by “tastes of Americana from this fabled road trip” with a nice variety of styles among its lineup.
And, because it’s National Cookie Day, here’s a bonus—several beer cookie recipes you should consider making for the holidays!
- Holiday Ale Cut-Out Cookies (why not X-Mas Cookie for these?)
- Beer + Snickerdoodles = Snickerbrewdles
- Soft Stout Cookies
- Bourbon Beer and Brown Sugar Chocolate Chip Cookies
