Advent Beer Calendar 2021: Day 7: Alewerks Brewing Fun, Old-Fashioned Family Christmas Ale
Christmas is (or should be) a fun, family holiday, and I know I have fun putting together this Beer Advent Calendar every year; so it’s only fitting that today’s beer fits that “fun” theme, and comes to us from Williamsburg, Virginia: Fun, Old-Fashioned Family Christmas Ale from Alewerks Brewing Company.
It’s a strong holiday ale infused with a medley of spices, and according to Alewerks, it’s what Christmas tastes like. Here’s the description the company posted to Facebook for this year’s edition:
It’s all the goodness of the Christmas season blended together for a uniquely nostalgic and satisfying brew. Savor the influence of cinnamon, clove, ginger, vanilla beans, sweet orange peel, allspice, and nutmeg in this spiced beer that will have you dreaming of Christmases long, long ago with every sip. And at 8% ABV, it’s sure to make you jolly and keep you warm on the cold winter nights ahead.
And for more fun? Alewerks released a bourbon barrel-aged version as well, just the thing to open and share with family this Christmas!
When Alewerks opened in 2006, it was still a relatively early time in Virginia’s craft beer scene, and the brewery had to compete with Williamsburg’s other brewery—Anheuser-Busch. It persevered and thrived, and fifteen years later, Alewerks has two locations and a distribution footprint across Virginia and Washington, D.C.
