Advent Beer Calendar 2022: Day 2: Riedenburger Weihnachtsfestbier
Today’s Advent beer pick takes us to Germany to drink lager and to visit Riedenburger Brauhaus, which offers up a variety of seasonal brews, including its annual Weihnachtsfestbier (Christmas festbier, or as Google amusingly translates it, “Christmas party beer”).
Riedenburger Brauhaus is a traditional family brewery located in Riedenburg, Germany, and has been following 100% ecological practices and organic brewing since 1994. Just last month, the brewery announced that it had received climate-neutral operation status (for its brewing processes), with a next step goal of making the entire company climate-neutral.
Weihnachtsfestbier is its festive beer for the holiday season, released each September. It’s an amber-colored lager that highlights malt aroma and flavor and is 5.5% ABV. Here’s a description from the brewery’s Facebook page (translated, of course):
Finally at Christmas and in time for the city time we present our Christmas festival beer: aromatic and amber colors, a strong enjoyment and Christmas greeting from Riedenburg. Fine organic malt from Bioland farmers, pure spring water and real organic hops, as well as craftsmanship performed with a touch of Christmas magic make this festive beer born.
The label adorns a snowy winter landscape in Riedenburg and a Nicholas strengthening himself with an unfiltered Riedenburg Christmas festival beer.
