Advent Beer Calendar 2008: Day 15: Samuel Smith’s Winter Welcome
Today we’re going with a classic: Samuel Smith’s Winter Welcome Ale. A quintessential English Winter Warmer, it’s malty and hoppy with a touch of spiciness without going over the top at 6% alcohol by volume.
Not much more I need to say—just look for the distinctive bottle and colorful label and you’ll be in for a treat.
Strangely enough, Samuel Smith’s is one of the only breweries these days without a website. Instead, I’ve pointed to Merchant du Vin’s page as they are the official importer of the Samuel Smith’s line of beers into the U.S., and they have a decent page for it.
BeerAdvocate grade: B. RateBeer score: 3.25/5, 66th percentile.
