Deluxe Brewing of Albany, Oregon released a new specialty beer this month, a collaboration with the Pink Boots Society as part of the Pink Boots Collaboration Brew Day that took place in March. The new brew is April Showers Shandy, a wheat ale with the Pink Boots Blend of hops from Yakima Chief Hops. Pink lemonade made with hibiscus was added during secondary fermentation.

Deluxe Brewing Company is proud to announce the release of their newest specialty beer, the April Showers Shandy. This craft beer is the product of their participation in the 2023 Pink Boots Collaboration Brew Day®. Deluxe Brewing owners, Jamie and Eric “Howie” Howard, would like to thank J Pascoe and Mandy Chidsey, the Willamette Valley Pink Boots co-founders, as well as all chapter members, for partnering with them on this special release.

Deluxe Brewing’s April Showers Shandy is brewed with an American wheat ale base, including two row malt and wheat, and is hopped with the official Pink Boots 6th Annual Blend of Yakima Chief Hops featuring a bouquet of delightful aromas including Loral®, Ekuanot®, and HBC 586 hop varieties. During secondary fermentation, a citrusy pink lemonade, made with dried hibiscus flowers is added. The resulting beer is a thirst quenching, not-too-sweet, refreshingly juicy beer with a gorgeous pink hue. With a 4.5% alcohol by volume percentage (ABV), this beer is easy drinking and the perfect pairing for any Spring day.

Deluxe Brewing hosted the Willamette Valley, Ore. chapter of the Pink Boots Society on March 8th, International Women’s Day, for the Pink Boots Collaboration Brew Day®. This event is an annual international celebration of women and non-binary individuals in the fermented/alcoholic beverage industry — a movement to recognize the impact they have on the craft beverage industry. By participating, Deluxe Brewing has committed to donating a portion of the proceeds of their sales directly to the Willamette Valley chapter to help fund scholarships that support the Pink Boots mission to assist, inspire, and encourage the professional development and education of women and non-binary individuals within the industry. For each April Showers Shandy pint sold during the tasting event on April 8th, 2023, Deluxe Brewing will donate $1, as well as $2 for each growler filled. For each keg sold, while supplies last, Deluxe Brewing will also be donating a portion of the proceeds toward the Willamette Valley Pink Boots Society chapter.

The Deluxe Brewing Company taproom is open to all ages and is pet friendly. Customers may order craft beer, cider, wines or from a full cocktail menu featuring hand-made spirits from Sinister Distilling Company. The on-site Deluxe Food Cart serves customers delicious brewery fare during open taproom business hours.

Craft beers from Deluxe Brewing Company are distributed by Bigfoot Distribution in the Mid-Willamette Valley both in-store and on tap at local establishments. Outside of Bigfoot’s territory, Deluxe also self-distributes. Customers who would like to see the April Showers Shandy on tap at their favorite business, may ask their friendly local beer buyer to stock Deluxe Brewing.
