Bend beer bits
It’s been awhile since I’ve done a local beer scene roundup here, and I’ve certainly extolled the beer cred of Bend, Oregon, many times before. So let’s take a look.
Deschutes Brewery: Coming up on June 20th, they’ve got their annual legendary barrel-aged beer tasting, which for $40 will get you in to taste seven different barrel-aged beers (possibly including the new Black Butte XXI) and an amazing food menu.
Then on the 27th, it’s their 21st birthday party with lots of beer, live music, and good times. Many Reserve Series beers will be poured.
Bend Brewing Company: They’re currently advertising 22-ounce bottles available for sale again: HopHead Imperial IPA and (new this time around) their Elk Lake IPA. I haven’t confirmed but my guess is $7-8 per bottle.
Silver Moon Brewing: They recently lost their license to serve any alcohol other than beer on-premise (no wine!) due to OLCC goofiness. But don’t let that deter you! They have a really good Belgian-style Rye ale brewed with heather tips right now—their “Heather-N-the-Rye” I think they’re calling it. Different and very tasty.
10 Barrel Brewing: They just installed a 40 barrel fermenter which will up their capacity considerably.
