The Pine Tavern‘s annual Beerfest Challenge returns again this year, the PT81 (last year was PT80, celebrating the 2016 80th anniversary of the restaurant), taking place on Tuesday, September 27th. Like last year, I am returning as head judge to help pick the winning beer that the Pine Tavern will feature always on tap for the following year. And there is of course a People’s Choice award once again too.

Last year’s event was a lot of fun, and I’m looking forward to this year as well. The event has been re-tooled slightly:

• Hours are from 4 to 8pm (later than last year to give more people a chance to attend)
• The featured beer style is Pale Ale (last year was IPA)
• The cost is $15, which gets you the glass plus eight tasting tickets

Proceeds will benefit the Humane Society of Central Oregon, and of course the winning beer will be featured on tap throughout 2017.
