These three bottles arrived yesterday: Deschutes Brewery’s flagship Mirror Pond Pale Ale. I’m not sure of the occasion other than a branding/bottle label refresh. But this is a solid, classic American pale ale that I’m always happy to drink.
The latest beer in Deschutes Brewery’s year-round lineup arrived today: Pacific Wonderland Lager. It is the brewery’s first year-round packaged lager offering, and yes, I’ve seen it in stores here in Bend already. Looking forward to drinking these; I’ve had this beer at the pub (before I knew it was … Continue reading
Several of these came my way this week: Chapter 2 Casual Ale from Silver Moon Brewing. This sessionable pale ale is only 4.7% alcohol by volume with 30 IBUs so it’s easy drinking but has a great flavor profile. I’m also a fan of this can art Silver Moon has going … Continue reading
This arrived late-ish last night, the penultimate day of the year: Yes indeed, Deschutes Brewery’s phenomenal imperial stout, The Abyss. Not a bad beer to receive for the final marketing sample of the year. Cheers!
Two of these packages arrived yesterday (on my birthday!) and one I received about a week ago. Pyramid Brewing Barrel-Aged Snow Cap gift set: Worthy Brewing Barrel Aged Dark Muse Imperial Stout (2014 vintage): And Sonoma Cider The Jax — cider inspired by Apple Jacks breakfast cereal: Cheers!
Arrived this weekend, the 2016/2017 edition of Deschutes Brewery’s Red Chair NWPA: Red Chair is out now, filling the void left by Jubelale which has apparently sold out already (or nearly so). Red Chair is a perennial fan favorite after all. I imagine I will have some notes as I … Continue reading
Arrived this past holiday week: Pyramid Brewing‘s annual classic winter warmer, Snow Cap: This year is Snow Cap’s 30th anniversary—quite a milestone for any beer!—and in addition to classic Snow Cap, the brewery is releasing Super Snow Cap (8.7% abv) and Bourbon Barrel-Aged Snow Cap (10%). Unfortunately while I did … Continue reading
This past week I received a bottle of a distinctly non-beer beverage: Savîle Rumtini, a citrus-infused pre-mixed rum cocktail drink. The backstory involves its inventor, hairstylist Dee Tutt, who spent 30 years perfecting this recipe. I’m not exactly sure how this ties into beer, or how (if) it fits into The Brew … Continue reading
Two new specialty beers from Guinness arrived this week: Rye Pale Ale, and Antwerpen Stout. Will be interesting to try these, though I’m more looking forward to the stout.
In addition to Halloween, it’s now officially winter beer season as well, as these arrived yesterday: Deschutes Brewery’s Jubelale is one of my favorite winter beers, and I’m pleased that this year it’s arriving in October rather than August!
