CBC Events: Belmont Station’s killer events all week

Belmont StationAll during the week of the Craft Brewers Conference, Belmont Station has got a great lineup of events taking place—some days they even have two back-to-back events. Belmont Station is one of Portland’s very best bottleshops and beer bars (as well as a favorite of mine) and they are pulling out all the stops for CBC week. Here’s the lineup:

Monday, April 13

Victory Meet the Brewer & Deep Cocoa Bottle Release, 5 to 7pm:

Meet Bill Covaleski, the founder and brewmaster of Victory Brewing Co.! Enjoy a taste of Philly with The Italian Market food truck (on-site) and savor several special Victory beers on draft, plus bottles of Deep Cocoa Baltic Porter will be available for sale in the bottle shop!

On Tap:

  • Dirt Wolf DIPA
  • Earth & Flame Scotch Ale
  • Old Horizontal Barley Wine
  • Kirsch Gose
  • Deep Cocoa Baltic Porter

Tuesday, April 14

Deschutes/Belmont Station CBC Kick Off Featuring Woody! 3 to 6pm:

Giant beer barrel? Mobile tavern? No matter how you look at it, whenever Woody, Deschutes’ ginormous beer-barrel shaped party-on-wheels, rolls into town, you know it will be a good time.

And Woody just got a makeover, with all kinds of shiny new features. This will be his Portland debut, so swing on by to see Woody in action! We will be pouring 8 different and very special Deschutes beers on draft (4 in Woody!) and we will even be handing out commemorative CBC/Deschutes/Belmont Station glassware (while supplies last)! Here are the beers we will be pouring:

  • Super Jubel 2015
  • India Red Ale
  • Nuggetzilla IPA
  • Chucklehead “Central Oregon style” Berliner Weisse
  • Must Have Trippel
  • Hoppy Pils Dry-Hop Lager
  • Kiss From A Rose Collaboration w/ The Commons Brewery
  • 2014 The Abyss

Bell’s After Dark, 8pm to close:

The last time the Craft Brewers Conference was in Portland, Bells’ Brewery Co. founder Larry Bell threw what continues to be one of the most legendary after-parties ever. In his hotel suite, no less.

We don’t expect this gathering to come close to topping that epic night, but we thought it would fun to host Larry and some of his crew and enjoy several Bell’s beers on tap — a rarity in these parts for quite some time. We also will have bottles of Two Hearted Ale for sale in the bottle shop! Come by, enjoy some Bell’s beers, pick up a bottle of Two Hearted, and say hello to one of craft beer’s pioneers. (Make sure to ask him how many times the police showed up at that Portland after-party!)

Here’s what we’re pouring:

  • Two Hearted Ale (IPA)
  • Cherry Stout
  • Special Double Cream Stout
  • The Wild One Sour Ale
  • Roundhouse IRA
  • Kalamazoo Stout
  • Third Coast Old Ale
  • Oberon American Pale Wheat Ale
  • Oarsman Berliner Weisse
  • Midwest Pale Ale

Wednesday, April 15

Celebrating American & Belgian Craft Beer, 4 to 6pm:

We are honored that Yvan de Baets of Brasserie de la Senne in Brussels, Belgium, has brewed a special beer for us. You see, the label for Taras Boulba Extra Hoppy Ale depicts a man shouting “Smeirlap!”, and we here at Belmont Station have adopted that Flemish interjection as our unofficial curse word (it means “Bastard!”). Unfortunately, Yvan won’t be able to join us, but Luc de Raedamaeker of the Brussels Beer Challenge (an international beer competition) will be on hand to present and discuss Smeirlap!

Additionally, we have asked several local/regional breweries to contribute a beer to this event and join us to talk about how they’ve been influenced by Belgian brewers.

The breweries/brewers include:

  • Brasserie de la Senne
  • Breakside Brewing (Jacob Leonard)
  • Hair of the Dog
  • pFriem Family Brewers (Josh Pfriem)
  • Upright Brewing (Alex Ganum)
  • Mazama Brewing (Jeff Tobin)
  • Russian River Brewing (Vinnie Cilurzo)
  • The Commons Brewery (Mike Wright)

Stone After Dark, 8pm to close:

Join some of the Stone Brewing gang for a chill night of hanging out with some great Stone beers on tap!

We will be pouring:

  • Arbalest Belgian Pale Ale aged in bourbon barrels
  • New Desecrator Black Barley Wine
  • Stone w00t Stout
  • Spotlight Series Imperial Mutt Brown Ale, the 2015 champion of Stone’s in-house brewing competition.

Thursday, April 16

Green Flash/Alpine Freak Show & Silva Stout Bottles Release Party, 4 to 6pm:

Come to Belmont Station and let your freak flag fly!

Green Flash Head Brew Master Chuck Silva will be on hand to help launch the Cellar 3 series, featuring Silva Stout bottles. Chuck will be signing bottles in the bottle shop for you to take home. Plus, we are helping to debut Alpine Brewing in Portland at the same time!

In the biercafé, we will pour:

  • Green Flash Super Freak
  • Super Freak with Apricot
  • Super Freak with Black Currant
  • Sour Blonde
  • Silva Stout
  • Alpine Duet IPA
  • Alpine Nelson IPA

Pssst: A photo booth will be on-site to commemorate your Freakiness — take home your souvenir CBC photos!

Cascade Barrel House “Battle of the Belmont Blends!” 7 to 9pm:

Our Belmont Station staff split up into four teams and blended four unique, one-off beers at Cascade Barrel House. We will be pouring the only existing kegs of these four beers here at Belmont Station during this event. Purchase a flight of all four and vote for your favorite! The winning beer will be announced at the event. Members of the Cascade crew will be on hand to chat with as well. Expect a lot of smack talk between Belmont Station folk. Just sayin’.

Friday, April 17

An Evening With Barley Brown’s, 5 to 7pm

We couldn’t have the Craft Brewers Conference go by without a tap takeover with the brewery that made our 18th Anniversary beer this year, Barley Brown’s from beautiful Baker City! Join founder/owner/brewer Tyler Brown as he busts out some special stuff that’s never made it out of the brewpub until now!

This list isn’t entirely confirmed, but here’s everything we’re pouring for sure:

  • HeadShake IIPA
  • Fork Lift IIPA
  • Predictable IIPA (colab with Fat Heads)
  • Chaos Imperial CDA
  • Belmont Black 18th Anniversary CDA
  • Pallet Jack IPA
  • WFO IPA

  • Starbottle Stout

Kick the Kegs with BeerAdvocate, 2pm to ??

Yup, “The Bros” — Jason and Todd Alström will be on-site, along with a number of BA magazine and online writers and contributors. Help us put the final flourish on a successful Craft Brewers Conference, Portland-style, and also give us a hand in getting rid of some of the partial kegs that will have piled up all week long!

Dogfish Head Record Store Day Party & Turntable Giveaway, 2 to 4pm

Dogfish Head, with its slogan, “analog beer for the digital age,” has been named the Official Beer for Record Store Day, a celebration of the unique culture of record stores and the special role they play in their communities.

With the help of concert poster artist Marq Spusta, Dogfish Head has created the Official Poster of Record Store Day. The limited-edition poster is now available for free at Belmont Station while supplies last.

Spusta’s art also appears on a mini traveling turntable from Crosley. Featuring built-in stereo speakers and 3 speeds, the Dogfish Crosley will be on display during our Record Store Day event! Bring in a favorite piece of vinyl and play a couple of tracks!

Best of all, at 4 PM we will be giving the turntable away to a lucky winner in a raffle. Everyone who attends the party gets a ticket, so come on by, listen to some tunes, enjoy some great beer with the Beer Advocate gang (see event listed above) and cross your fingers that you win!

Insanely good all week long.
