Ecliptic Brewing releasing LIGO West Coast IPA followed by the Moon Room Series
Last week Ecliptic Brewing announced two new beer releases out this month, starting with the newest addition to its All the Time Series, LIGO West Coast IPA, a beer that sales manager Erin Grey Kemplin describes as “the modern equivalent of the classic West Coast IPA.” The year-round addition will be hitting distribution January 26.
From the press release:
Ecliptic Brewing is launching a new West Coast IPA at the end of January. LIGO West Coast IPA will be available in 16-ounce can four-packs and draft, as part of the company’s All the Time Series, with the first shipment expected January 26th.
LIGO West Coast IPA is brewed with Pale Malt and features a modern hop profile highlighted with Mosaic, Simcoe and Strata. Clocking in at 6.5% ABV and pouring clean and fresh, this new beer offers another unique IPA option year-round, as it stands alongside the company’s flagship, Ecliptic Starburst IPA, and Phaser Hazy IPA.
Ecliptic’s brew team spent great effort on the research and development side of this beer. With multiple test brews made on their pilot system, members of the company’s Taste Panel evaluated each batch and offered areas of improvement for the next. Their final result features tropical berry notes balanced by some dankness and pine. Says Ecliptic’s Owner and Brewmaster, John Harris, “I am super excited to release a new year-round beer that has Strata hops in it. These have been a new favorite of mine the last couple years. They throw a great berry-like flavor”.
LIGO joins Starburst IPA and Phaser Hazy IPA in the year-round series, which also includes Pyxis Pilsner, Carina Peach Sour Ale, Tucana Tangerine Sour Ale, and Capella Porter.
And then the brewery announced the launch of its Moon Room Series, the all lager beer series that celebrates the opening of The Moon Room, Ecliptic’s second location. I’m always happy to see more variety of lagers coming out, so this is an exciting one!
Excerpt from the press release:
The Moon Room Series was an idea born from Ecliptic’s Owner and Brewmaster, John Harris. It showcases a brand-new label design from creative agency Sasquatch, and it’s a dark and moody vibe that matches the physical Moon Room location in Southeast Portland. Says Harris, “I am really proud to have opened our second location, and I wanted to celebrate this through lager beer. This series will feature a bunch of great traditional German styles that we haven’t necessarily packaged before, like an Oktoberfest and Schwarzbier.”
The first beer releasing in the series is a Vienna Lager, shipping February 9th in 16-ounce can four-packs and draft. Brewed with Pilsner and Vienna malts, along with Hallertau Tradition and Mittelfruh hops, this traditional German beer is slightly malt forward with notes of oven fresh bread. Continues Harris, “We brewed a Vienna Lager last year with our friends at Chuckanut Brewery, and it was well received. This recipe, while different, will hopefully be another big hit as our first launch in the Moon Room Series.”
You can see the other planned lagers in the Moon Room Series on the brewery’s 2022 calendar.
