Firestone Walker Hopnosis IPA and Parabolita Stout for St. Patrick’s Day (received)
California’s Firestone Walker Brewing wants you to consider a couple of their beers for St. Patrick’s Day this year: Hopnosis IPA and Parabolita, a salted caramel barrel-aged stout. The company sent me samples of each this week, arriving just in time for the holiday.
Here’s the pitch for each beer from the brewery:
Something different, something green:
Hopnosis IPA: For those looking for something different from the traditional Irish stout, check out Hopnosis, an innovative IPA brewed with coveted Cryo Hops® pellets in the traditional Irish green can. Firestone double dry-hops this beer with varieties from the U.S. and New Zealand, creating an explosion of tropical fruit flavors including mango, passionfruit, white grape, and lychee.
Something more traditional:
Parabolita: To create this first-ever canned Vintage beer, Firestone aged a selection of Parabola for one year in premium bourbon barrels, then blended it with a complement of Velvet Merlin milk stout to create a silky mouthfeel and a more approachable ABV of 9.2-percent. They also infused the beer with Madagascar vanilla beans, cocoa nibs, and sea salt to achieve a full Salted Caramel-style drinking experience.
While Irish stout (and red ale, and lager) are the traditional classics for St. Paddy’s, it’s hard to argue with Firestone Walker’s pitch—and those Hopnosis cans definitely look the part!
