GoodLife Brewing celebrates 8 years
Bend’s GoodLife Brewing is turning eight this year, and is gearing up to celebrate its eighth anniversary on Saturday, June 15 with a party in its biergarten featuring special beer releases, live music, and more. GoodLife was only Central Oregon’s ninth brewery when it opened in 2011, which might seem hard to imagine now with 32 breweries we have now (not even considering the additional eight that have closed).
GoodLife was originally going to be named Noble Brewing, until owners Ty Barnett and Curt Plants changed it to avoid potential conflicts with California’s Noble Ale Works. Among other milestones over the past eight years, GoodLife became the first Central Oregon brewery to can its beer (in 2013), was the first (and only?) local brewery to open a distillery inside (albeit as a separate entity) with Backdrop Distilling, and tragically, lost founder/brewer Plants two years ago. Curt was well-loved, a great guy, and it’s great to see his legacy live on with the brewery he helped start.
From the press release:
2,920 days, 3,854 batches of beers, and here we are about to celebrate our 8th Anniversary. The beer industry has changed immensely in that time but one thing that remains the same is your loyal support and we can’t thank you enough for that. We’d love to celebrate our 8th Anniversary with you and have you join us in our biergarten for an afternoon of laughter, music, and good vibes.
Our 8th Anniversary Party will be happening on Saturday, June 15th from 1pm-8pm. This year, we are charging $10 for entry, which includes a free beverage, and is open to the public. The $10 entry will be donated to the Upper Deschutes Watershed Council. Their mission is seeking to protect and restore the two-million acre Upper Deschutes River watershed through collaborative projects in habitat restoration, watershed education and long-term monitoring. Tickets will be available at the door the day of the party.
It wouldn’t be a party without music, so we are happy to announce that G. Love will be playing again this year! He’s excited to share his new beer and song, called “The Juice,” with everyone. If you missed last years anniversary party, you missed an amazing show. Showtime is still TBD but follow us on social media, or our website, for more info in the coming weeks.
We’ll be tapping some unreleased beers that our brewers made just for our anniversary. We have our 8th Anniversary Barrel Aged Blonde with Tangerine and Orange Blossom Tea, Oregon Berry Wheat with Raspberries and Blackberries, and Big Gulp Triple Juicy IPA.
So take note, Saturday the 15th, from 1 to 8pm, entry is $10 which goes to a good cause. Plenty of beer will be flowing and it will be a great time!
