Today kicks off the 5th annual Killer Beer Week from Brewpublic (and to be honest I’m never sure if it should be “Killer Beer Week” or “KillerBeerWeek” in spelling, though it should be noted Angelo seems to prefer the space-less version), offering up some killer beer events from the 18th through the 27th—10 days of killer beer! This year it has expanded beyond the Portland area to include some events in Eugene, and it’s promising to be simply an amazing 10 days. Here’s the lineup:

Friday, October 18: Killer Beer Summit at Roscoe’s (Portland)

This starts at 4pm! From the Facebook event page:

Kick off Brewpublic’s 2013 KillerBeerWeek with this inaugural event at Roscoe’s Pub. Featuring an awesome lineup of 16 draught beers to not be missed, this Killer Summit is the first event of the whole shebang. Are you stoked? We are damnit!

And a portion of the proceeds will go to benefit Angelo.

Saturday and Sunday, October 19-20: Killer Pumpkin Festival at The Green Dragon (Portland)

This takes place all day Saturday and Sunday starting at 11am each day.

Now in it’s third year, The Green Dragon takes to the streets to make their Killer Pumpkin Festival even more killer than ever! Closing down 9th Ave for this year we’ve partnered with Camp Ukandu, a non-profit for children diagnosed with cancer, and are moving to the street this year as part of a two day festival.

There will be 25+ pumpkin beers, pumpkin cocktails, pumpkin food, pumpkin smashing, pumpkin bowling and more, and on Sunday at 3pm the Elysian Pumpkin Roadshow will be on hand to tap an 85 pound pumpkin filled with beer!

Monday, October 21: Killer IPA Tasting at N.W.I.P.A. (Portland):

This starts at 5pm on Monday and of course couldn’t be held at a more apt location:

Portland’s first exclusively IPA taphouse, N.W.I.P.A., will be tapping more than a handful of the most floral and sought after India Pale Ales in the region for this event designed for lupulin addicts and hopheads in mind. Specialty beers from Boneyard, Laurelwood, Barley Brown’s, Breakside, Gigantic and more.

Tuesday, October 22: Chuck Fest at The BeerMongers (Portland):

With the exception of the the Tea Fest (see below) this is possibly one of the most niche-y of the Killer Fests for the week:

There are so many talented folks in the craft beer industry that we’ve begun a tradition of celebrating many through our series of name themed events. First with BenFest, SeanFest, and MikeFest, we’ve now come to this year’s Chuck Fest at The BeerMongers. Several Chucks, Charlies, and Charles’ represent the regional craft beer industry. So to honor these goodly folks, we’ve brought forth some special offerings  brewed for and by, and dedicated to, dudes of this noble name sake. To some, the meaning behind the name is “free man” or “old man” but to us, Chuck means “more beer, man!” This year, we look forward to beers from Fort George, Sasquatch Brewing, Green Flash, Alameda, Logsdon Farmhouse, Oakshire, and more. Look for beloved Chucks such as Charlie Devereux, Charles Culp, Chuck Porter, Charlie Van Meter, and Charlie Brown to..um..name…a few.  Cheers to Chucks everywhere!

Wednesday, October 23: Tea Beer Fest at Sixteen Tons (Eugene):

Very possibly the most niche beer festival I’ve seen—I don’t even know what inspired Angelo to come up with an idea such as this but somehow I think it’s going to work! It’s taking place from 5 to 10pm at the Eugene taphouse:

Wednesday, October 23: Killer Bend Beer Night at Bridgetown Beerhouse (Portland):

An event to pay attention to (of course I’m in Bend so this jumps out at me!), the details are a bit sparse but expect to see a great taplist of Bend beers that you likely don’t see in Portland very often.

Thursday, October 24: Eugene & Corvallis Killer Beer Fest at Orenco Taphouse (Hillsboro):

They are bringing the best of the Willamette Valley to town for a great event from 3 to 11pm:

With 20 rotating taps, the 1,500 square-foot pub will turn into a tastival for some of Central Willamette Valley’s best craft breweries. Many seldom found breweries from the Eugene and Corvallis area will include Falling Sky, Claim 52, Plank Town, and Agrarian Ales as well as well known and beloved favorites such as Ninkasi, Oakshire, Flat Tail, and 2 Towns Cider. There will be many more so, get a designated driver or hop on the Max light rail train (Orenco is right off the NW 231 stop). This event will be a great opportunity for folks to check out this awesome new pub as well as an absolute highlight of this year’s Killer Beer Week!

Friday, October 25: Brewpublic’s 5 Year Brewniversary Party at Saraveza (Portland):

Five years!

Always a special event for us here at Brewpublic, this year’s 5th anniversary party at one of the best craft beer bars anywhere on the planet is especially meaningful this year. Publican Sarah Pederson and curator and general manager Erika Huston have graciously organized this year’s event as a fundraiser for Brewpublic founder Angelo De Ieso II who has amassed and continues to amass an unfathomable debt from medical bills associated with treatment of a brain tumor. Forget the downer side of all this, this event is going to be an absolutely stellar night of amazing beer from the likes of Fort George, Cascade, Amnesia, Solera, Widmer, Block 15, Laurelwood, and more! There will be prizes and giveaways as well as many familiar and friendly faces. Hope to see you there!

Saturday, October 26: Killer Beer Fest at both Bailey’s Taproom and The Bier Stein (Portland and Eugene):

This is the big one, and this year it’s expanded to both Portland and Eugene at two of the best beer bars in the state! These will be pretty epic parties and ones not to miss.

(Bailey’s, Portland) Year 5 of Brewpublic’s Killer Beer Fest at Bailey’s Taproom promises to be just as killer as ever before with more new and inspirational brews including several special and one-off delights. Look for mustn’t miss treasures from Barley Brown’s, Ninkasi, Oakshire, Cascade, Logsdon, Flat Tail, Old Town, Upright, The Commons, Walking Man, Laurelwood, Elysian, Worthy, GoodLife, Falling Sky, Pints, Stone, and so so much more! If you are a craft beer geek, you are NOT going to want to miss this event which is the highlight of KillerBeerWeek! Entry to Bailey’s KBF includes a commemorative Brewpublic festival pint glass.

(Bier Stein, Eugene) Since Angelo has been living in Eugene for the summer and into the fall, he decided it made perfect sense to team up with the most Killer of Emerald City beer bars, The Bier Stein. This year the Stein moved into a gorgeous new 15,000 square-foot location set up with all the fixings for a perfect state of the art beer geek utopia. Many of the same beers featured at Bailey’s Taproom will pour parallel at the Stein as well as a few regional exclusive treats. Big thanks to the entire staff here including Chip, Kristina, and Dave for helping to orchestrate this sure to be kick ass event!

Sunday, October 27: Killer Beer Week Recovery Brunch at Hop & Vine (Portland):

Every beer week needs a recovery day, and brunch on this one takes place from 11am to 2pm.

Killer Beer Week is longer than most weeks. This year with 12 events spanning 10 days, it’s the biggest yet. So to revitalize and recoup after this staggering series of imbibing and fun, we’ve returned with the Killer Beer Week Recovery Brunch with our friends at The Hop & Vine. Known for their famous Sunday brunch. This special brunch will feature the beers and brewers from Upright, The Commons, Laurelwood, Hopworks, Pfriem, Breakside, Fort George, and more! Get your grub on and your brew on and chat with the superstars behind the magical flavors!
