McMenamins Hard Blackberry cider
Jon has been receiving periodic offers for growler samples of select McMenamins beers for awhile now. When the notice came in for a sample of their Blackberry Cider, I immediately told him the growlette was mine. 🙂 Having just bought a fresh pint at the pub a few days prior, I waited a bit before filling the growlette provided to us by McMenamins for such a sample.
The color is a very dark purple and tastes pretty tart, but also very balanced with a light sweetness at the finish.
Description from McMenamins website:
Blackberry Cider
(on tap July – October)
Dark garnet in color, the aromas of fresh blackberries burst from the glass. The slightly tannic and tart blackberry component is balanced out by a small amount of residual sugar, while the fermented apple rounds out the mid-palate and finish.
My go-to when visiting a McMenamins and I encourage you to at least ask for a taster when grabbing some happy hour tots!
