Oregon beer calendar for May
A few beer events are taking place across the state this month:
This week, through the 8th, is Eugene Beer Week as I previously blogged. They have lots of overall events going on, so check out that site if you’re in the area this week.
Eugene also sees the Sasquatch Brew Fest on Saturday the 7th (it’s included in the list of EBW events, anchoring the Week): from noon to 10:30pm at the Hilton Hotel, with entry costing $10 (with a commemorative glass and two tasting tickets). (Facebook event link) It features special beers from Northwest brewers and a homebrew competition.
The following Saturday, the 14th, is the annual and highly anticipated FredFest: the beer birthday party for pioneering beer writer Fred Eckhardt, now in its sixth year. Tickets are sold out—but if you could still get any, they’d cost you $50. FredFest is at held at Hair of the Dog Brewing and you can bet Portland’s beer elite (Brewminati?) will be in attendance.
The weekend of the 20th through 22nd (Friday through Sunday) is the fifth annual Brewer’s Memorial Ale Festival held by Rogue over in Newport. This is a dog-friendly event created to commemorate the passing of Brewmaster John Maier’s dog Brewer in 2006; it’s $10 to get in (you get four taster tickets) and if you’re into beer and dogs, then this is for you:
The dog-friendly brew festival is held inside the Rogue Ales Brewery and includes 50+ Microbrews, Live Music, Doggy Musical Chairs, Dog Wash, Dog Dancing and Celebrity dog look-alikes (Rin-Tin-Tin, Lassie, Benjy and of course, Brewer).
