Today, January 5, is the Twelfth Day of Christmas, which according to the song means you should be receiving 12 drummers drumming. I don’t have any drummers for you but I do have beer news from around Oregon for this Thursday! As usual, I’ll be periodically updating this post throughout the day, so check back often. Baerlic Brewing (Portland) has a beer release today starting at 4pm for their Dark Thoughts Black IPA: “A classic IPA possessed with a maniacal evil, Dark Thoughts CDA is brewed with cold-steeped roasted malts for an eerily smooth darkness. Dryhopped with .66 lbs of hops per barrel of pungent Columbus and dank Mosaic hops.” They cold-steep roasted (Midnight?) wheat to get that dark character. Baerlic also bottled this brew, which they are listing at 6.66% ABV and 66.6 IBUs.

Belmont Station (Portland) has Pelican Brewing‘s epic Mother of All Storms in today for a tasting, tapping, and meet the brewer tonight from 5 to 7pm: “Talk beer with brewer Coren Michaud-Tradd, sample some award winning beers and see what kind of tricks they got up their sleeve for 2017 seasonal release. What a way to start the new year.” In addition to MOAS, Belmont will also have MacPelican’s Scottish Style Ale, Tsunami Stout, Beak Breaker DIPA, Beeznus Honey Citrus Pale Ale, and Mosaic IPA on tap. Definitely get down there tonight!

And speaking of Mother of All Storms, Bend’s Broken Top Bottle Shop posted yesterday that they have it on tap! Overall BTBS has a pretty great lineup of beers on tap right now (here are the rest). If you’re close to Bend I’d highly recommend swinging by.

Craft Kitchen & Brewery (Bend): They have a meet the brewer event at their pub tonight starting at 5pm: “Meet Nate McAlpine, the brewer behind our huge selection of beers on tap. Ask questions and sample some of our 19 brews!”

Deschutes Brewery (Bend) has announced their 2017 beer lineup, which includes the additional of four new beers: Pacific Wonderland Lager, Swivelhead Red, Passionfruit IPA (draft only), and Cultivateur. I’m especially looking forward to Pacific Wonderland, which will be their first year-round lager to be bottled, a much-needed addition to their lineup in my opinion. Interesting to note too that Cultivateur graduated from the Pub Reserve series to full Reserve, entering distribution channels rather than just being available at the pubs.

Deschutes also tweeted a picture of a collaboration beer being bottled now for the upcoming American Hop Convention taking place in a few weeks here in Bend. The beer is an IPA (of course) with 10 Central Oregon breweries plus the local Mecca Grade Malt collaborating on it. Hops are from USA Hops. Now to figure out how to score a bottle of this…

Redmond’s Wild Ride Brewing will be at Uptown Market in Beaverton from 5:30 to 8:30pm tonight for a tap takeover: “Come join us on Thursday for a delicious tasting with Wildride Brewing! To be tapped: Nut Crusher PB Porter, 3 Sisters Red, Pacific Crest Trail Pale”

Widmer Brothers Brewing (Portland) is tapping their Spalt Assualt Doppelsticke collaboration beer they made with Wayfinder Beer today: “Spalt Assult, 7.5% ABV, 70 IBU, uses just the right amount of Midnight Wheat and Caramunich malt, and the beer is finished and dry hopped with plenty of its namesake spicy, grassy Spalt Select hops from Germany.” One if you didn’t get to try at Wayfinder you can find at the Widmer pub.

Columbia River Brewing (Portland) has a new beer of their own on tap: “New beer release today. Pre-Prohibition American Lager. Made with 6 Row Barley and Maize. With German Noble Hops. Yeast strain original from Philadelphia. 6% ABV. 31 IBU’s”

Gigantic Brewing (Portland) posted a sneak peek photo of their latest beer: “Our latest release, Mons Meg, an artfully carmelized “wee heavy” Scotch Ale, will delight all of you malt heads out there. Weighing in at 8% ABV, it ships out for distribution this week and will be on tap at the taproom soon. Label art by Skot Olsen.”
