Oregon Beer News, 01/21/2014
Here is the news in beer from around Oregon for Tuesday, the 21st of January. As usual, I’ll be periodically updating this post throughout the day with the latest news, so check back often. And if you have news to share, please contact me and I can get that posted as well.
White Owl Social Club (Portland): Today is the killer-looking Masters of IPA event the White Owl is hosting, featuring award-winning IPA’s from five different breweries on tap and the brewers responsible for them available to meet and chat. “Come meet the brewers and sample some extremely rare, extremely awesome IPAs on draft from five killer breweries! If you love IPAs as much as we do, this is your chance to come enjoy some rare beers and hear the inside scoop, straight from the brewer’s mouth!” The event starts at 6:30pm, and the brewers on hand will be Stone Brewing’s Mitch Steele, 10 Barrel’s Shawn Kelso, Barley Brown’s Tyler Brown, Boneyard Beer’s Tony Lawrence, and Fat Heads Brewing’s Matt Cole.
Cascade Brewing (Portland): Tonight’s Tap It Tuesday event at the Barrel House at 6pm is featuring “Live” Grenadine: “This NW style sour ale is a blend of various cherry beers as well as cherry-like beers that have no cherries. Sweet cherry and Maraschino notes are present as you draw the glass near. Sweet candy and cherries dance on the palate and lead to a rich candy finish. Roy Rodgers would approve!”
Belmont Station (Portland): Today is the start of their “Bigger, Badder, Blacker Week” celebrating “really rare, big, luscious stouts” and dark beers. For today’s kickoff of BBB Week they’ll be pouring some great beers: Block 15 Super Nebula, Full Sail Black Gold Bourbon Barrel Aged Imperial Stout 2011, Full Sail Bourbon Barrel Aged Imperial Stout 2013, Boneyard Suge Knite, and Deschutes Black Butte Porter XXIII. This is going to be quite a week for Belmont Station so keep an eye on all the events on their event page.
Oakshire Brewing (Eugene): Tonight they have a special Single Batch series release: “Tonight at 6pm our Lead Brewer Tyler West will be here to release Bellatrix, an American Wild Ale aged in gin barrels for 2 years!”
