TGIF—perhaps also TGIB (you can figure that one out!). Here’s the Oregon beer news for the weekend of January 22. As usual, I’ll be periodically updating this post throughout the day with the latest news, so check back often. If you have news to share, please contact me and I can get that posted as well.
Portland’s new Labrewatory, a “craft beer lab,” is celebrating their grand opening today (Friday) starting at 3pm: “Come celebrate the Labrewatory in our taproom and enjoy our unique brews, like our Golly G. Cranberry Porter, @PDXBottleShareIPA, Hulk S.M.A.S.H. IPA, Billy the Squid Gose and more. Tamale Boy will be in the building with their food truck serving up delicious food. We’ll be filling crowlers for purchase and will be having a raffle for give-aways!”
McKenzie Brewing of Eugene, better known as the brewpub that it started under, Steelhead Brewing, is celebrating its 25th(!) anniversary this Friday and Saturday! “We’re celebrating for two nights: Friday Jan 22nd & Saturday Jan 23rd from 6:30-9:00. Enjoy live music on Friday from Skip Jones and Paul Biondi and on Saturday from Rob Tobias. Both nights will include a schwag raffle and $2.50 pints of our Anniversary Ale (American pale ale brewed with cherry wood smoked malt). See you there!” BIG congrats to the silver anniversary!
Seattle’s Schooner Exact Brewing has been making the rounds of Portland this week, and this Friday evening from 5 to 9pm they will be at Imperial Bottle Shop for a tasting and Schooner Exact night: “Join us as we welcome Schooner Exact Brewing Co. from Seattle. Taplist to include: Hoppy the Woodsman Barrel-Aged Winter Ale, Hopvine IPA, Profanity Hill Porter, Barrel-Aged NW Sour, and Hamma Hamma IIPA”
Bailey’s Taproom (Portland) is hosting their 7th annual CellarFest this Saturday the 23rd: “Join us on Saturday, January 23rd as we once again coax from our cellar a grip of tasty beers of ages spanning a decade. Admission is free, we’ll kick things off at Noon, and celebrate until close. Not down with basement beers? We’ll have a couple of non-cellared brews available as well!” They’ve got a terrific beer list posted, definitely one to check out.
Bridge 99 Brewery (Bend): Today (Friday) they are celebrating the one-year anniversary of opening their tasting room! “Friday January 22nd 2016 is our tasting room’s 1yr anniversary!!! Come help us celebrate from 4-7:30. Sweet treats and $1 off all pints!”
Three Creeks Brewing (Sisters): Saturday the 23rd is the date of their 4th annual Beer and Dessert Pairing, taking place starting at 3pm: “Our annual Beer & Dessert Pairing is back. We will be pairing four delicious TCBC brews with four mouthwatering desserts. Join us as our head Chef Mark and Brewers Zach & Jordan walk you through each pairing. $25/person, gratuity included. Seating is limited. Reservations required. Call today to reserve your spot at the table. 541.549.1963.” If you don’t have reservations yet, you should make them now!
Portland U-Brew & Pub (Portland) has their 5th annual Westmoreland/Sellwood Winter Beer Fest taking place this weekend, Friday and Saturday, starting at noon each day. They’ll have nine house-made Winter Warmers, along with four other local winter beers on tap. It’s kid friendly and looks like they’ll have three bands playing as well. Check it out!
Worthy Brewing (Bend): It’s their Firkin Friday beginning at 4pm, where they tap a firkin cask and offer $3 pints of it until it’s gone. Today’s firkin: Worthy IPA stuffed with Belma hops.
