Oregon Beer News — 02/02/2021
It’s Groundhog Day! Apparently the groundhog saw his shadow this morning, which means six more weeks of winter. Which is fine as far as winter brews are concerned! Here’s today’s beer news from around Oregon, for this February 2, which I’ll be updating throughout the afternoon.
Level Beer now shipping to multiple states
I saw that Portland’s Level Beer posted this news last week, and Brewpublic picked it up yesterday: Level is now shipping beer “all over the State of Oregon as well as Nevada, Alaska and Washington D.C.” You can go to this page to place an order, which currently has 18 beers available, and as noted in the Brewpublic article, “The beer selection will continue to evolve with all of the special releases throughout the year.” It’s another good option to get Oregon beer delivered to your door!
New beers (and cider) list
Some news days just call for a quick roundup of the latest beers and ciders to drop:
- Avid Cider (Bend): Marionberry Mojito Cider: “Northwest grown berries and apples, lime, and a dash of mint combine in this unique, delicious, and limited seasonal cider. The light sweetness of the berries is balanced by the zest from the lime & just a hint of mint lingers in the background. Look for it also in 6-pk cans.”
- Claim 52 Brewing (Eugene): Splash: Strawberry and Kiwi. “6%. Sour IPA brewed with oats and milk sugar. Hopped with Sabro. Conditioned on strawberry purée, kiwi purée and vanilla. $20/4-pack, Limit 4 – 4 Packs per person. This Friday 2/5, it will be sold via the online ordering system for The Kitchen – Toast Tab.”
Plus another: Stuffed: Key Lime Pie: “Brewed with marshmallow and milk sugar. Conditioned on key lime purée and graham cracker crumbs. $20/4-pack, Limit 4 – 4 Packs per person” - Worthy Brewing (Bend): Return to the Mountain, releasing in cans and hitting shelves in several weeks. “Mountain Style IPA w/Kveik yeast. 6.8% ABV 45 IBU. You might be asking yourself, what the hell is a Mountain Style IPA? Well, think of the best of both coasts! Moderate bitterness, juicy hop aromas derived from exciting hops, slightly hazy, and easy drinking! We decided to brew our take on this emerging style using Kveik yeast!”
- Oakshire Brewing (Eugene): Heart Shaped Box. “This past weekend, Oakshire Brewing released its first barrel-aged beer of the year with the annual release of Heart Shaped Box. This massive bourbon barrel-aged imperial stout is released yearly in time for Valentine’s Day.” (via Brewpublic)
- Great Notion Brewing (Portland): PB and Jammy Pants: “Don’t be a goober – the newest version of PB and Jammy Pants is lip-smackingly delicious. This tart ale has all the goodness of a classic PB&J – rich creamy peanut butter and sweet concord grape jelly – without the crust. This treat drops on Wednesday at 9am on the app for pickup orders at all locations (pickup begins at noon), local PDX delivery, and OR, NV, and AK shipping. (7.5% abv) $20/4pack”
