Oregon BeerTGIF! Are you ready for Superbowl Sunday? Even if football’s not your thing there are still plenty of beer events taking place this weekend. Here’s the roundup for February 3-5. As usual, I’ll be periodically updating this post throughout the day with the latest news, so check back often. If you have news to share, please contact me and I can get that posted as well.

The Salem Winter Brewfest continues this weekend, both Friday and Saturday from 11am to 11pm both nights. It takes place at the Capitol Mall outside the Capitol building, and they are featuring over 100 beers and ciders on tap. The cost for Friday/Saturday is $20 each day, or $30 for a weekend pass. Keep an eye on the Facebook event page for any updates and the list of what’s pouring.

Swing by Ringlers Pub (located on the Crystal’s main floor) during the Saturday event, from 5:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m., for a free tasting of these inspiration-based brews. Styles range from the traditional Lager to the adventuresome Vanilla Coffee Porter, and all six brewers will be on hand to share tastes of their wares and chat about all things beer, psychedelia and rock and roll.”

Block 15 Brewery (Corvallis) is celebrating Bourbon Month all February long, featuring a whole month of food and drink dedicated to bourbon. Here’s about the Crash Worthy: “It’s described as a light bodied and crisp golden with a healthy dose of Crystal and Citra hops for a big floral and grapefruit finish. At 5.8% and 28 IBU’s, this is a well-balanced and easy drinking compliment to the GTX.”

Freebridge Brewing (The Dalles) is celebrating an anniversary of sorts—one year and one month on Saturday the 4th. “We simply wished to say…thank you. But really, that sounded pretty weak. So, Saturday February 4th beginning at 6:30, Freebridge Brewing will be celebrating…with you… our one year and one month anniversary. It’s kind-uva big deal. Check this out. Local “Pop Stars” Al and Nolan Hare canceled a performance at The White House in order to entertain our patrons at this inaugural event. Pretty sweet. Please don’t let them down. They’re a couple of really, really bad hombres. Not only will we have Al and Nolan, we’ll have raffles, food specials, and other specials too. Did I mention “smoked meat?” As usual no cover, bi-partisan, kid friendly, servin’ authentic beers to authentic people. See you Saturday.”

McMenamins 23rd Avenue Bottle Shop on Saturday is hosting a cider tasting with Woodbox Cider from 2 to 4pm: “Woodbox Cider was started by the Thierfelder brothers and their mother, Mama Gibson. They’re a family-owned and operated boutique cidery that uses locally sourced apples and produces delicious products here in Portland’s very own Northeast quadrant. All of their ciders are partial wild ferments and bone dry. Unapologetically bone dry. So they’re coming by to pour samples of four of their ciders: Heritage 8, Pippen, American Sidra Style, and Double Barrel Cider. We‘ll also be featuring a special Double Barrel Cider Cocktail during the event.”
