Oregon Beer News, 02/07/2017
Here is the news in beer from around Oregon for this Tuesday, February 7. As usual, I’ll be periodically updating this post throughout the day, so check back often for the latest news. If you have news to share, please contact me and I can get that updated as well.
Belmont Station today hosts their Founders Oregon Launch Party as the Founders Brewing rollout in Oregon continues: “Help us welcome Michigan-based Founders Brewing with a night of great beer and Oregon cheer. Owners, brewers and the sales team have really outdone themselves with this party! We’re going to have a very special tap list and a lot of great beer to-go in the Bottle Shop. Great Founders goodies to be given away, too! The draft list for the night will include: All Day IPA – Session IPA, Lizard of Koz – Bourbon Barrel-aged Imp. Stout w/ Chocolate and Blueberries, Red’s Rye IPA – IPA brewed with Rye, Nitro Oatmeal Stout, Backwoods Bastard – Bourbon Barrel-aged Scotch Ale, Frootwood – Bourbon Barrel-aged Cherry Ale, and Dirty Bastard Scotch Ale.” The party is from 5 to 8pm.
Standing Stone Brewing (Ashland) has their Pints for Purpose benefit fundraiser tonight starting at 5pm, with proceeds benefiting Oregon Wild/Oregon Brewshed Alliance: “Yes, we love our brewshed! That is why Standing Stone Brewing Company is a proud member of the Oregon Brewshed Alliance; a group of craft breweries from across the state that seeks to protect Oregon’s many amazing brewsheds by supporting the efforts of Oregon Wild. On Tuesday, February 7, from 5-10pm Standing Stone Brewing Co. will celebrate our love for our Oregon brewsheds at our Pints for a Purpose event. SSBC will donate $2 for each beer and $1 for each root beer sold during the event to Oregon Wild to support their ongoing work to protect our precious wild lands.” Make sure to swing by Standing Stone tonight and have a pint or three to help them out!
Cascade Brewing (Portland): Their Tap It Tuesday event at the Barrel House at 6pm is featuring CocoCaBonic: “A new variation on our Bourbonic Plague project. CocoCaBonic is a blend of sour imperial porters aged in bourbon and wine barrels for up to 30 months with Ecuadorian cocoa nibs, vanilla beans, cascara coffee fruit and toasted coconut. Rich and complex, this limited-release features flavors of chocolate, coconut, bourbon, tobacco and dark roast malt (10.1% ABV).”
Portland’s Great Notion Brewing is hosting a fundraiser and food drive for James John Elementary PTA tonight from 5 to 10pm: “Come out and support a good cause! Please also consider bringing pre-packed or canned food for the school food pantry. GNB will be donating 15% of this evening’s proceeds to the James John Elementary PTA’s Summer Reading Program.” 15% of the proceeds for the night is super generous! Head on out to help do your part!
Laurelwood Brewing in Portland is also holding a fundraiser today for Tucker Maxon Elementary: “Come into our SE Laurelwood Pub location ALL DAY to grab some grub and 20% of the proceeds will go to Tucker Maxon Elementary School!” 20% is also super generous so make sure to stop in to their southeast location—you know what to do.
And let’s not forget that it’s Community Pints Tuesday with Deschutes Brewery! $1 of every pint sold today will go to benefit a designated beneficiary (a new non-profit is selected each month). At the Portland Pub today, they are benefiting Sparks of Hope which helps children survivors of abuse. I don’t know yet who the Bend Pub beneficiary is this month but be sure to stop in today for a pint or three to help out!
The BeerMongers (Portland) is hosting a Founders welcome night from 6 to 10pm: “Join us on this glorious day as are extremely thrilled to have Founders Brewing in the house with their tasty offerings.” (I’m starting to wonder how the Founders people can be all these places at once…)
