Oregon Beer News, 02/11/2016
Here’s the news in beer from around Oregon for Thursday, February 11. As usual, I’ll be periodically updating this post throughout the day, so check back often. If you have news to share, please contact me and I can get that posted as well.
Ecliptic Brewing (Portland) is set to release two new beers, a Gose and a Red Ale; from the press release: “Ecliptic Brewing welcomes Spring with the release of Zenith Grapefruit Gose and Deimos Imperial Red Ale. These beers are part of Ecliptic’s Seasonal and Special Release Series respectively. Zenith Grapefruit Gose and Deimos Imperial Red Ale will be available in March. Both beers will be available in the pub and distributed throughout the Ecliptic Brewing distribution network in draft and 22oz bottles.” Loves me some Gose, I will be on the lookout for that one.
The Bier Stein (Eugene) is hosting the Eugene launch of Astoria’s Buoy Beer today starting at 5pm: “You’ve probably seen the brightly colored bottle labels adorning our beer cooler– the award winning Czech Pils and lovely, floral IPA. Buoy has been hand-delivering beer to us all the way from Astoria; a long drive! Now they’ve got regular distribution, which will save time and energy for everybody. Come on down and grab a couple pints of some of six great beers on tap, and welcome them to the ‘hood!”
Stammtisch (Portland): Their Starkbier Fest continues today at the German pub, featuring a taplist of exclusively German beers along with food specials that will run through Sunday. Don’t miss it!
McMenamins Edgefield (Troutdale): Their Meet Your Maker beer tasting tonight from 5 to 8pm is featuring Cerberus Wild Ale: “Tart and funky, this three headed beast is a blend of Saison, Wheat Beer and Berliner Weisse. All three were aged together in a Hogshead Whiskey Barrel from the Edgefield Distillery and inoculated with a Belgian Wild Ale Strain, Brettannomyces Bruxellensis, to create that pleasant and earthy tang that pervades this balanced Wild Ale.”
Bailey’s Taproom (Portland): Today from 4 to 10pm at The Upper Lip they are hosting a Love Triangle Tap Takeover, featuring beers from Barley Brown’s, Pfriem, and Boneyard Beer: “A ménage a trois of flavor featuring rich Imperial Stouts, dank CDA’s, and specialty Chocolates. Our deepest fantasies are realized in a three-way tap takeover from heavyweights pFriem, Boneyard, & Barley Brown’s. We’ll have Woodblock Chocolate in house indulging you with seductive delicacies. Mood lighting & sexy slow jams? Maybe. Find out for yourself!”
The Green Dragon (Portland) is welcoming Enterprise’s Terminal Gravity Brewing tonight for their meet the brewer event starting at 5pm. “All the way from Enterprise, Oregon – Brewer Josh Evans of Terminal Gravity Brewing proudly strides into the Green Dragon this Wednesday with four of his best brews. This small craft brewery from the, “Middle of Nowhere and Center of the Universe” has been part of the Northwest Craft Brewing scene for 19 years. Join us Thursday evening and find out how good beer can taste when it’s inspired by the beautiful Wallowa Mountains.”
Full Sail Brewing (Hood River): Tonight is their February Brewmaster Dinner featuring “Life is too short…Eat Dessert First!” starting at 5pm: “Chef Ryan Callaghan and Brewmaster Jim Kelter team up to create four delicious courses each paired with an award-winning Full Sail brew. All for just $40. Service starts at 5PM. There is limited seating. For reservations to the Brewmaster Dinners, please call our Brew Pub at (541) 386-2247.” The first course is dessert, a baked Mt. Hood (think “Alaska”) before going into the full dinner courses, all paired with Full Sail brews.
