Oregon Beer News, 02/13/2014
Here’s the Oregon beer news for Thursday, February 13. As usual, I’ll be periodically updating this post throughout the day with the latest news as I find it, so check back often. If you have news to share, please contact me and I can get that posted as well.
Lompoc Brewing (Portland): Today is the release of their annual Batch 69 Baltic Porter, taking place at the Sidebar from 4 to 10pm: “Batch 69 Baltic Porter is a strong dark beer that opens with dark roasted coffee notes, with hints of chocolate and black licorice. It was brewed with a lager yeast, giving it a much cleaner smoother finish than a traditional porter.”
Full Sail Brewing (Hood River): Tonight their February Brewmaster Dinner taking place at their Pub, starting at 5pm, in the vein of a pre-Valentine’s theme: “This month’s Brewmaster Dinner falls on the night before Valentine’s Day. What better an occasion to beat those Friday night, Valentine crowds and celebrate a day earlier? The theme for this four course feast is ‘Tuscan Tryst.'” There are four courses paired with Full Sail beers, and it’s all for $40.
Hop Valley Brewing (Springfield): Today is Hop Valley’s 5th anniversary! “Come celebrate our five year anniversary with us at our Springfield location with LIVE MUSIC from the local band HANDS LIKE STICKS. There will be dinner specials and a special release of our WOLFE barley wine aged on FRENCH OAK CHIPS. With Special prices on our first beer brewed at Hop Valley, Double-D Blonde Ale. We will also have limited edition t-shirts for sale.” Big congrats to Hop Valley for 5 good years!
BunsenBrewer (Sandy) has an Imperial IPA now on tap: Verbeek IIPA. “Rogier Verbeek (1845-1926) was a Dutch geologist who studied the Krakatoa eruption and greatly improved the field of volcanology. Guest brewers Will Minderhout and Pat Mack. Verbeek is 9.5% ABV, dry hopped with Amarillo and Simcoe.” Also currently on tap (of their own) are Heisenberg IPA, deGrasse Tyson CDA, and de Duve Belgian Wit.
Bottles Beer Bar (Portland) is hosting a special Fort George/Finnriver Cider event from 5 to 8pm dubbed “Beer. Cider. Love” — a bit of a pre-Valentine’s evening. “Join Fort George Brewery, Tim Ensign and Finnriver, Jana Daisy-Ensign for an evening of craft beer, cider and love! Hosted by Bottles. Tim and Jana represent two of the Pacific Northwest’s premier craft beverage producers whose commitment to using local, high quality ingredients result in beers and ciders that are easy to love. This dynamic couple will be sharing complimentary tastes of some of their favorite product offerings from Fort George and Finnriver and their passion for craft. The evening will include specialty draft, custom cider-beer cocktails, product to go and delectable chocolate for sample and purchase, locally crafted by Smitten Artisan Truffles.”
