One of McMenamins‘ most iconic beers, Ruby Ale, their raspberry-infused pale, is turning 31 years old today! Accordingly all day today at all locations they are celebrating Ruby’s birthday: “Celebrate our signature Ruby Ale’s 31st Birthday with Ruby pints for $4, Ruby growler fills for $8, Ruby Cans to-go for $2, and Ruby’s Turkey Burger for $11.75 (turkey patty with brie, raspberry-chipotle sauce, herb aioli, lettuce, tomato & onion – served with fresh-cut fries). Order a Ruby or the food special and get the Ruby Passport stamp, and head out on a Birthday Passport Discovery Hunt to five Portland-area locations & get a prize at your final stop. At our online shop, all Ruby gear will be 20% off on this day.” Go enjoy some Ruby today!
Deschutes Brewery (Bend): Tuesdays are Community Pints days at the Bend and Portland pubs, where $1 of every pint sold benefits a local non-profit (a different one each month). At the Bend pub, the beneficiary is Healthy Beginnings, “a local non-profit who’s goal is to provide accessible, educational, preventative screenings to ALL children,” with their pint night kicking off at 4:30pm. At the Portland Pub, they are benefiting the Bloom Project, “a non-profit that provides weekly fresh floral bouquets to hospice and palliative care patients.” Make sure to stop in to either pub today to help out by enjoying a pint or three.
Ninkasi Brewing (Eugene) has their Pints for a Purpose fundraiser today at their Van Buren tasting room: “Join us at the Tasting Room for Pints for a Cause! From noon to 10pm, $1 from each pint sold in the Tasting Room will go to Emerging Leaders in the Arts Network.” ELAN is a student-run professional development organization connect with the University of Oregon. Be sure to swing by today if you’re in Eugene and help out with some pints here as well!
McMenamins Corvallis has a limited edition beer tasting today commemorating Ruby’s birthday, with Royal Ruby: “Ruby was the first Fruit Ale in the renascence era of craft brewing that we’re now basking in. This is an Imperial version of our perennial best seller with twice the malt and twice the raspberry puree. This is truly a beer fit for royalty.” This 8.5% abv version of Ruby was brewed by Gary Nance over at the Monroe brewery in Corvallis. The tasting runs from 4 to 6pm.
Cascade Brewing (Portland): Tonight’s Tap It Tuesday at the Barrel House at 6pm is offering “a glimpse into the depths of age of our barrel cellar” with Stock ’78: “Stock ’78 is an old stock sour quad ale aged for three years in a Heaven Hill bourbon oak barrel from 1978. Barrel aged character is at the forefront of this ale, with layers of caramel, toasted vanilla, hints of citrus, and warming oak rounding out the flavor profile.”
Portland’s Laurelwood Brewing is celebrating their 16th birthday today! “Laurelwood is celebrating sixteen sweet years of handcrafted brews, fine pub food, and family-friendly fun! Come celebrate with us at our NE location: 5115 NE Sandy Blvd on Tuesday March 21st from 5pm – 8pm. No entry fee and everyone is invited so bring your family, friends, neighbors, mail man…you get it, just bring everyone!” That’s huge, big congrats to Laurelwood!
Culmination Brewing (Portland) has a new beer on tap today, a collaboration Pilsner brewed with Imperial Restaurant: “Once again we have combined forces with the great minds at Imperial Restaurant to come up with a collaboration beer that will be served in our taproom and at their restaurant. This beer is called Truffelufagus Pils and it was cooked with Oregon black truffles and steamed potatoes. This golden pilsner comes in at 4.7% ABV and was hopped with Hallertau Blanc and CZ Saaz hops, giving this beer 30 IBUs. This uniquely refreshing beer can be described as Strawberry, Dank, and Hoppy. Enjoy this beer while it is still available. Cheers!”
Sedition Brewing (The Dalles): Tonight they are offering their first “Liquid Education” class to learn about beer, starting at 5:30pm: “Want to learn more about the beverage we know and love, craft beer? Join us Tuesday, March 21st, 2017 for the first class of the season beginning at 5:30 pm in the pub at Sedition Brewing Company. Classes will run for five months and focus on various ingredients and aspects of craft beer making. The classes will last for approximately 30 – 45 minutes with time for tasting and mingling to follow. Upon arrival at the pub, please make your way towards the tables in front of the stage to check in. All participants must be 21 and up, as you will be sampling beer throughout class.”
N.W.I.P.A. (Portland) is hosting Block 15 Brewery today to pour the latest Sticky Hands as well as other beers: “Block 15 will be bringing the goods!! Badfish IPA and Picture of Nectar IPA on tap and 4 packs of the new Sticky Hands variant, Brewer’s Cut, in the cooler. We will aslo be recieving the latest Cosmic Cold Brew, Double Ristretto and Here Comes the Sunshine, a Biere de Mars, in bottles.”
