Oregon Beer News, 03/24/2017
Happy Friday! Here’s the rundown of news and events taking place this weekend, March 24-26. I’ll be offline for much of it so there likely won’t be many live updates. However, if you have news to share, feel free to send it my way and I will update it into this or a future post.
Friday 3/24
Yachats Brewing has the bottle release of their Peche taking place all day Friday at their brewery: “We are pleased to announce the release of our Peche bottles. This mixed culture saison features fresh Earlystar peaches from Mosier, Oregon. Peche is fermented in a large open wine barrel, then transferred onto the fruit and re-fermented for several months. abv 9.5%” Hopefully bottles will filter out to the rest of the state too.
McMenamins 23rd Avenue Bottle Shop in Portland is hosting an all-day release as well, Captain Neon’s Mango Double IPA Can Release: “Join us as we release the first set of cans in a series of limited release one-offs! This tropical beast of a beer was made by the guys out at McMenamins Edgefield and you’re going to love getting a little psychedelic staring at this label. Captain Neon’s Mango Double IPA: Contained within is a hoppy concoction brewed and dry-hopped with Amarillo, Citra, Mosaic and Chinook Hops, and over 650 pounds of mango puree from Oregon Fruit Products. A powerful medley of bold tropical fruit scents and flavors elevate this Double IPA to a higher plane.”
Imperial Bottle Shop (Portland) will be hosting the release and vertical tasting of Occidental Brewing‘s Bourbon-Aged Lucubrator from 4 to 9pm. “Come celebrate this year’s release of Occidental Brewing Company’s Bourbon-Aged Lucubrator Doppelbock. We’ll be pouring a great lineup of Occidental brews. We will be offering all beers by the glass and pint, and a 5-beer sampler tray for $9.”
The Bier Stein (Eugene) is featuring Seal Rock’s Wolf Tree Brewery for a beer tasting from 5 to 8pm: “On a ranch in Seal Rock, Oregon, just up the hills from the ocean, Wolf Tree Brewing has been turning out its Spruce Tip ale for several years. Since acquiring a full-sized brewing system, they’ve been pumping out tasty beer with their locally harvested spruce tips, barrel-aged goodies, and standards to boot. Our rep will be handing out free samples and raffling off items.” Great opportunity to sample beers from one of the smaller and more remote breweries in the state!
Bend’s Worthy Brewing has their Firkin Friday kicking off at 3pm, featuring Ocean Roll Kolsch: “Start the weekend off right with Firkin Friday. We’ll be tapping a firkin of “Ocean Roll” .. a creation of our Easy Day Kölsch, cardamom, coriander, lemon peel, orange peel and wildflower honey! Pints are $3 until we run out!”
