Oregon Beer News, 04/10/2012
Here’s the Oregon beer news for Tuesday, the 10th of April. As usual I’ll be periodically updating this post throughout the day so check back often for the latest updates. And if you have news you’d like to share, please contact me and I can get it posted.
Logsdon Farmhouse Ales (Hood River): They are celebrating their first anniversary with a dinner tomorrow night at Cabezon Restaurant in Portland: “Join us in celebrating our first anniversary at Cabezon for a 5 course meal with beer pairings. Dinner costs $95 with gratuity included.” It’s a bit expensive but it’s a pretty high-end meal; seats are limited but you can find out what’s available and reserve a spot by calling (503) 284-6617.
This isn’t quite beer related, but it’s similar: Portland has a Sake Fest coming up this Thursday the 12th! “Portlanders will gather in the Heritage Ballroom at The Governor Hotel on Thursday 12 April 2012 – 6:30 pm to 9:00 pm – to experience the finest Japanese and US sake brands, as part of Saké Fest PDX. Your Saké Fest PDX ticket purchase also includes a FREE souvenir sampling glass … a modern glass vessel donated by our friends at Momokawa Saké.” The cost is $49 and definitely looks intriguing.
The Brew Shop & Platypus Pub (Bend) have a beer tasting with Ashland’s Caldera Brewing tonight from 6 to 8pm; in addition to (at least) pouring Hop Hash, there will also be Mogli, a “chocolate, bourbon, oak aged imperial porter”—and I’m sure the Pub will have at least one or two Caldera beers on tap as well.
Cascade Brewing (Portland): Tonight’s Tap It Tuesday is featuring Live Black Raspberry Reserve, a sour ale that “started out as blond ale that was barrel aged for one year before spending just 10 days on 60 pounds of blackcap raspberries: think Nouveau Boujoulais with blackberries.” The tapping starts at 6pm; 7.25% ABV / $7.50 glass.
Breakside Brewery (Portland) has a tasty warm weather beer newly on tap: “We’ve got a new beer on tap today! Amarillo Wheat is the PERFECT citrusy, crisp beer for a spring day like today. The brewers tell us that it is one of their favorite brews to date.”
Oakshire Brewing (Eugene): Their popular Line Dry Rye seasonal is coming out this Friday the 13th, and they’re having a release party at Bottles in Portland that day from 7 to 10pm. That’s a really good beer, and fresh off the tap it should be pretty darn tasty!
Ninkasi Brewing (Eugene): They are also releasing their light (and new-to-bottles) limited-release Helles Belles on Friday, in Eugene, “at MCDONALD THEATER EUGENE –bring in 3 bottle caps to the brewery before friday for a free vip passes for entry. Meet the band and Ninkasi before the show at Bier Stein!”
