Oregon Beer News, 04/12/2017
Happy Hump Day! I hope your week is zipping by and there’s beer at the end of the tunnel! Here’s the Oregon beer news for Wednesday, April 12. As usual, I’ll be periodically updating this post throughout the day with the latest news, so check back often for updates. And if you have news to share, please contact me and I can get that updated as well.
Belmont Station (Portland): 20 Days for 20 Years continues today with the kickoff of the five-day Bigger Badder Blacker event, featuring Founders KBS: “You asked for it, and it’s b-a-a-a-a-ck: Bigger, Badder, Blacker! Our popular celebration of all beers big, black, bad (in a good way) or any combination of all the above! We offer a stunning five days of amazing stouts, imperial stouts, barley wines, strong ales, barrel-aged offerings and more to share — starting with a little something known as Founders Kentucky Breakfast Stout, tapped at 5 PM! Grab a glass of it at the bar, and get a Founders KBS glass to take home (while supplies last). Hurry in! The beer and the glasses are sure to disappear quickly!”
The Bier Stein (Eugene) also has Founders in the house, tapping at 6pm tonight: “For years, you’ve been asking… for years we’ve shaken our heads, as the limitations of beer distribution hadn’t yet brought Founders Kentucky Breakfast Stout to our door. Your wait is over! We will tap a keg and release bottles (still in limited supply!) of the infamous Bourbon Barrel-aged Stout with Coffee & Chocolate at 6pm. Come enjoy a glass and take a bottle home! We will also have Curmudgeon and PC Pils on draught.”
McMenamins Crystal Hotel (Portland) has their “The Blasphemous Collaboration Series” beer tasting at Lola’s Room in conjunction with their band tonight, featuring Devolver Coffee Stout. “We teamed with Portland’s purveyors of the sonic occult, Atriarch, for this dark and invigorating brew. We proudly present Devolver Coffee Stout, named after a track on Atriarch’s forthcoming release from Relapse Records. Full-bodied with classic Stout flavors of chocolate and toffee, twelve pounds of our McMenamins Kenyan roast coffee imparted rich notes of caramel & nectarine. We hope you join us and Atriarch on April 12th in Lola’s Room for the official release and concert!”
Rogue‘s Eastside Pub in Portland has their Green Dragon Brew Crew release today, featuring Newport Blonde: “Brewed with Michael Kora, brewmaster of Montavilla Brew Works, this easy drinking blonde ale is a showcase for organic Newport hops. Crisp and refreshing are the hallmark of this fresh ale which is dry and well balanced showing waves of flavor in every sip. While the hop aroma is subdued, the flavor of a honeydew melon with a lime twist are up front, followed by a lingering bitterness – easy drinking with a ton of flavor, this is a beer worthy of spring.” Keg gets tapped at 5pm.
Great Notion Brewing (Portland) has another flavored beer soda crowler release today with their Orange Creamsicle IPA: “We made a fruity, hazy IPA that tastes EXACTLY like an Orange Creamsicle!!! You should come try it. It will go on draft sometime in the next couple of days and then Crowlers next Wed the 12th. We made a 7 bbl batch of this beer this time and will be selling exactly 200 Crowlers. 2 per person, so first 100 people get them. Thank you!”
