Oregon Beer News, 04/14/2016
Here is the news in Oregon beer for this Thursday, April 14. As usual, I’ll be periodically updating this post throughout the day, so check back often. And if you have news to share, please contact me and I can get that updated as well.
McMenamins Edgefield (Troutdale) has their Meet Your Maker beer tasting today from 5 to 8pm, featuring barrel-aged Mayan Apocalypse: “The latest in our Edgefield Barrel Series is a Three Rocks Rum Barrel Aged Nut Brown with Cinnamon and Chili Peppers. Dark brown with a fluffy white head, this beer has aromas of spice, a little heat, and vanilla. Flavors of chilies, cinnamon, and Rum pair well with the underlying bready character of the Nut Brown. Sit back with this great sipper and enjoy!”
Laurelwood Brewing (Portland) will be at NWIPA today for a meet the brewer event starting at 6pm: “Laurelwood Brewery will be in house and they are bringing some tasty IPAs with them including both Green Elephant and Green Mammoth plus there recently reissued Boss IPA. Brewers will be in attendance and James will have swag for your bag bud!”
The Bier Stein (Eugene) today is hosting Sunriver Brewing for their continued can rollout, celebrating the release from 6 to 9pm: “Are you ready for the country? Cans are the perfect outdoor travel beer companion, so it makes sense that Sunriver would foray into that format. Start your journey here with samples of Fuzztail Wheat and Rippin Pale from the can, plus Cinder Beast Imperial Red, S.U.P Summer Ale, and Vicious Mosquito IPA on tap!”
Belmont Station (Portland): Today from 5 to 7pm they are welcoming Coronado Brewing for a can tasting, featuring the (new) release of Coronado’s cans: “For the first time in the company’s 20 year history, Coronado Brewing is putting its beer in cans. Two Coronado classics, Islander IPA and Orange Avenue Wit, were the first to make it into cans. Additionally, Coronado Brewing is introducing its brand-new pale ale into the canned lineup, Easy Up Pale Ale. Come try all three canned offerings and get some great Coronado giveaways!”
Fat Head’s Brewery (Portland) today is releasing (the return of) their Hop Juju Imperial IPA on draft, starting when they open at 11:30: “Come taste a super fresh batch of HOP JUJU, the GABF Gold Medal winner in 2013 and 2015 for Imperial IPA.”
The Green Dragon (Portland): Today’s meet the brewer event is featuring Head Brewer Logan Mayfield of Boardman’s Ordnance Brewing starting at 5pm: “Logan Mayfield of Ordnance Brewing joins us at the Green Dragon Thursday with an impressive line up of brews, ranging from Pale Ale and Kolsch, to a Belgian dark ale and a Barley Wine. Hailing from a small town on the Columbia River, Logan and his team have the freedom to experiment without predetermined expectations and unspoken rules.”
Old Town Brewing (Portland) is celebrating a big anniversary today with a party and beer release: “It was in 1974 when Old Town first opened it’s doors to the Portland community! And in those 42 years we’ve seen a lot of changes, both within oursleves (becomming an award-winning brewery) and our neighborhood. But the love and support has remained constant and we couldn’t be more thankful to everyone. So to celebrate, we are hosting a PARTY at our original downtown location where we will be releasing our newest bottled beer, Summer of ’74. We will also be offering 1974 specialty pricing (like $.50 garlic knots!), a live DJ playing hits form 1974, beer tasting with Head Brewer, Andrew Lamont, and more!”
