Oregon Beer News, 04/17/2017
Welcome back to the start of a new week! I hope everyone had a great Easter and you don’t have too much of a chocolate and candy hangover. Here’s the news in Oregon beer for Monday, April 17. As usual, I’ll be periodically updating this post throughout the day with the latest news as I find it, so check from time to time. If you have news to share, please let me know and I can get that updated also.
Belmont Station‘s 20 Days for 20 Years anniversary celebration continues today with a “Besties!” night starting at 5pm: “The Oregon Beer Awards named Oregon’s best breweries of 2017 in three sizes, based on production: Baerlic for small brewery, The Commons for medium-sized brewery and Breakside for large brewery. Belmont Station for a third year running was named Best Beer Bar/Bottle Shop in the same awards ceremony. And because we are all friends, we thought it would be fun to have a Besties Night, celebrating not only great beer, but the wonderful community of friendships that support our craft beer culture!” Baerlic, Commons, and Breakside beers will be pouring the taproom.
Great Notion Brewing (Portland) has their latest crowler day today for their popular Juice Jr.: “Junior IPA (ex-Juice Jr) just won the best beer in Oregon via Willamette Week’s annual Beer Guide! Come and take home this super juicy, all-Mosaic crushable IPA in a 32 oz Crowler!”
Culmination Brewing (Portland): This year’s Foed For Thought beer is being tapped today starting at noon: “This year’s Foed For Thought is ready and we will be tapping it Monday 4/17 at 12pm! Last year we christened our brand new foeder with this beer and it was just so good that we decided we would keep this beer in rotation. Come out and taste our latest batch! Foed For Thought is a foeder fermented NW Farmhouse Ale that was dry hopped with Southern Hemisphere hops. It is straw colored and hazy in appearance with flavors and aromas of white wine, pineapple, coconut, oak and bright citrus fruits. 7.1% ABV and 14 IBU. Enjoy!”
Rogue Ales‘ Tax Day Garage Sale continues at all of their locations through Tuesday the 18th (actual tax day), so if you want to get your hands on discounted beers and gear.
This Friday and Saturday, the 21st and 22nd, the Spring Nano Beer Fest is taking place at John’s Marketplace in Portland: “The 2017 Spring Nano Beer Fest is a 2-day event showcasing small batch breweries from the Pacific Northwest. These are beers that can be hard to find anywhere else since they are typically self-distributed breweries and there are very few kegs made for each run. If you are a true beer enthusiast looking to be in early on the most popular beers of tomorrow, then this fest is for you! If you are a connoisseur of passionately brewed beers, ciders and meads of any and all styles, this fest is for you! If you just love beer and having a good time….This fest is for you!” Tickets are available online and cost $20 which gets you the glass plus 15 tasting tickets.
