Oregon Beer News, 04/26/2016
Here is the news in beer from around Oregon for Tuesday, April 26. As usual, I’ll be periodically updating this post throughout the day, so check back often for the latest news. And if you have news to share, please contact me and I can get that posted as well.
Bend Brewing Company is celebrating their 21st anniversary this year, and this Friday the 29th they are throwing a block party to celebrate (like they did last year). “Join us on Friday, April 29th as we shut down Brooks Street in front of our downtown brewpub for this epic party. There will be a huge tent outside with FREE live music featuring Elektrapod, Moon Mountain Ramblers & Broken Down Guitars Trio. We will be pouring 21 different styles of BBC beer to commemorate 21 years!” The party will run from 4 to 10pm, be there!
Cascade Brewing (Portland): Tonight’s Tap It Tuesday at the Barrel House at 6pm is featuring Oh Noyaux You Didn’t! “It features one of the oldest barrels in our cellar – a sour blond ale aged in an oak wine barrel for more than 30 months with vanilla beans and apricot noyaux (the kernels from inside the apricot pit, pronounced noy-OH). Loads of complex flavors have developed over time including toasted almond, vanilla bean, amaretto liqueur and red licorice.” I’m sure that’s going to be a good one.
Deschutes Brewery (Bend): Tuesdays are their Community Pint days at both the Bend and Portland pubs, where they donate $1 of every pint of beer sold to a charitable organization, selected each month. In Bend, they are partnered with the American Cancer Society, and in Portland they are benefiting Habitat for Humanity Portland/Metro East-Women Build. Make sure to stop by and enjoy a pint or three for charity!
10 Barrel Brewing (Bend) has their pub charity nights taking place today as well. In Bend, “All profits from 5pm-9pm will be donated to the Education Foundation for Bend-La Pine schools.” And in Portland, “Join us tomorrow night from 5pm-9pm for Charity Tuesday supporting Community Warehouse. Profits from all food and beverages purchased during that time will be donated to this great local cause!”
Deluxe Brewing (Albany): Release of the week: “This week we have tapped an Altbier, The Bitter Beaver is on tap in the tasting room today!” Mmmm Altbier… one to try out!
Fort George Brewery (Astoria): They also have a benefit night tonight: “Fort George Benefit Night – the last Tuesday of every month. Bid on silent auction items or buy a pizza and a pint. All proceeds from the upstairs restaurant will be donated to the cause. Tonight starting at 4:30pm, help Hilda Lahti Elementary raise funds for a new school mural.”
Hair of the Dog Brewing (Portland): As noted in the comments below, HOTD’s Otto is available now! Seek it out!
FYI: 2016 Otto from the Wood is available starting today at Hair of the Dog.
