- Bridge 99 Brewery has a trivia and bingo night as well. Bridge 99 recently tapped a new pilsner and the El Buen Zason Del Mago is serving up Mexican food tonight which would be a great pairing.
Two McMenamins locations are hosting Friends & Family Night fundraisers today, where 50% of the night’s food and drink sales (starting at 5pm) are donated to a local organization. McMenamins Mall 205 in Portland is raising money for Creative Science School, and the Grand Lodge in Forest Grove is benefiting the Forest Grove Foundation.

Wayfinder Beer (Portland) has a new beer on tap today: “CLOVENBOCK – Maibock collaboration with Varietal Beer Company. A salacious brew of malty and worldly delights. Tasting notes: Toffee, Warming, Malty, Pagan. Now on tap.”
Brewpublic broke the weekend news that Rogue Ales‘ long time brewmaster, John Maier, is retiring this year at the end of July. From the article: “After 30 years on the brew deck at Rogue Ales in Newport, Oregon, John Maier announced his pending retirement at the inaugural John Maier Coastal Brew Fest this past Saturday. Recently turning 64 years old, John has decided that it’s time to hang up his brewing boots for the last time in July 2019.During his 30-year run at Rogue he’s brewed over 22,582 batches of beer in Newport. John and his team of brewers have been awarded over 30 medals at the prestigious Great American Beer Festival, in addition to his 11 awards at the World Beer Cup. Not too shabby of brewing honors. But more importantly, John has been an inspiration to so many brewers. His initial recipes have inspired so many beers that we enjoy today. He developed an appreciation of hops that he helped usher in to the India Pale Ale style of beer. So much so that he’s known as John “More Hops” Maier!” It’s quite a legacy, so raise a glass of Rogue to John Maier!
