Oregon Beer News, 05/11/2017
Here’s the Oregon beer news for Thursday, May 11, rounding up the news and events for the day. As usual, I’ll be periodically updating this post throughout the day, so check back often. If you have news to share, please contact me and I can get that posted as well.
Portland’s Tin Bucket continues with their fourth anniversary today with a kick off party starting at 5pm featuring Corvallis’ Block 15 Brewery and Flat Tail Brewing: “We are turning 4 years old and like usual we will get the party rolling with Block 15 and Flat Tail. There re going to dig deep in the cellar for an amazing draft list, so keep an eye out. Block 15: Intergalactic Hop Shop, Triple Booster; Cardinal Coalescence; Super Nebula 2017; Caves Saison; and Framboise Black 2016. Flat Tail: Brandy Barrel Aged Stout and Fruitpunch & Lime Sour.”
Deschutes Brewery (Bend) is releasing their first Reserve Series beer for 2017: Cultivateur, a Flanders brown-inspired saison style ale. At the Portland Pub they are celebrating all day: “Cultivateur is the first release from our Reserve Series for the year, and it comes straight from the farmhouse. Cultivateur represents our own take on a barrel-aged classic. Blending saison, brett, and sour styles to build depth and complexity, offering a crisp, rustic flavor profile perfect for sharing life’s simple pleasures. Available in our pubs and tasting room on May 11, this is one Reserve beer you won’t want to miss! 22-oz bottles for sale $17. Cultivateur sample points with an amuse-bouche of salami and triple cream.” I suspect the Bend Pub will also be celebrating the Cultivateur today.
McMenamins Edgefield (Troutdale) is hosting a Spring Sour Slam Invitational beer tasting today from 5 to 8pm, featuring five specialty sours—two from the Edgefield brewery, and the other three from guest breweries: Tropic Heat Sour and Barrel-Aged Raspberry Rhubarb Fennel Sour from the Edgefield, Watch the Birdie Gooseberry Gose by Baerlic Brewing, Tart-tini from Cascade Brewing Barrel House, and Myrtle from The Commons Brewery. There will be a small bites menu, and I suspect since the event is called a “Slam” that drinkers get to vote on their favorite sour.
The Bier Stein (Eugene) tonight is hosting a classic game of Plinko with Hop Valley Brewing, from 5 to 8pm: “Come try your hand at the classic analog arcade game! You’ll get a ticket when you buy a Hop Valley beer on tap, and every half hour during the event our rep Brandon will pic four contestants to play for prizes. At the end of the event, he’ll do a random drawing for a 1/2 gallon Hydroflask, so stick around!”
Sisters’ Three Creeks Brewing will be at Uptown Market in Beaverton tonight from 5 to 8pm for a tap takeover: “Three Creeks will be joining us this Thursday for a tap takeover from 5 to 8pm! We’ll have some kegs and some bottles and cans to sample. Maybe even somre raffle prizes?!”
Redmond’s Wild Ride Brewing will be at Belmont Station in Portland tonight from 5 to 8pm for a beer tasting: “Join us for a tasting of a nice array of Wild Ride beers from the beautiful Central Oregon community of Redmond. Pouring samples of: Electri-Fly – India Pale Ale – Now in 6 Packs!; Nut Crusher – Peanut Butter Porter – Now in 6 Packs!; Hidden Trail – Blood Orange Pale Ale; and Sweet Rye’venge – Rye Whiskey Barrel-aged Porter”
The Platypus Pub (Bend) is holding a beer tasting with Deschutes Brewery tonight from 5 to 7pm: “Please join us Thursday night as Ryan Chase from Deschutes Brewery will be here to sample out some of their beers. We will have Hop Henge, Red Chair on nitro and 2016 The Abyss on tap and for samples.”
