Oregon Beer News, 06/14/2012
Here’s the news in beer from around Oregon for Thursday the 14th. As usual I’ll be periodically updating this post throughout the day, so check back often for the latest updates. And if you have news to share, please contact me and I can get it updated.
Portland Beer Week and Medford Beer Week continues, with highlights like the Brewvana Progressive Beer Dinner in Portland and Deschutes Brewery Kickball in Medford; check the respective events pages for the full listings of beer-related happenings in each city.
In Bend today, as part of the “Outside Games” that are currently going on, there is a “Cruiser Crawl and Poker Run” that apparently is… riding your bike to each brewery and playing poker? “Cruiser Crawl begins at Cascade Lakes Lodge anytime you choose after 4:00pm/Maps Available. Grab your cruiser, your friends and an ice cold beer. Eight local award winning Breweries will join together on Thursday, June 14 from 4-7p to bring you the first Annual Subaru Outside Games Cruiser Crawl and Poker Run. Prizes will be given for the best hand at each brewery and a grand prize for the best hand of all will be presented at Saturdays Night’s festivities at the Century Center. Come try one (or all) of your favorites from Good Life Brewing, Cascade Lakes Brewery, Deschutes Brewery, Old Mill Brew Werks, Boneyard Brewery, Silver Moon Brewing, Bend Brewing Company and McMenamins.”
McMenamins Edgefield (Troutdale): Today they have a limited-edition tasting, “June is for Wheat Lovers”, featuring three variations on their Deep V Wheat Ale, infused with tea. “Tee times. Tea time. Mercenaries. Seychelles islands. China. Delicious wheat ale. All these things come together at the Edgefield Distillery Bar on June 14th. Those crafty brewers from Edgefield have infused two pony kegs of our Deep V Wheat Ale with special ingredients, including several teas from The Tao of Tea.” Fascinating descriptions, go read the full list, and then head over to the Edgefield at 5pm to try these out. Once they’re gone, they’re gone.
Belmont Station (Portland): Tonight they’ve got a big tasting/launch party featuring Seattle’s Schooner Exact Brewing, from 5 to 8pm: “Join Brewmaster/co-owner Matt McClung from this wonderful Seattle Craft Brewery as they introduce their beer to Portland. . Matt has lots of Portland heritage: he was born and raised here and attended the University of Oregon. We’ll pour 14 Schooner Exact Beers. Expecting 3 Grid IPA, West Point Pale, Puget Soundian Dark Ale, Profanity Hill Porter, Brave Horse Ale, Seamstress Union Raspberry Wheat, Hoppy Holidays, Imperial Porter, Bourbon Barrel Aged Imperial Porter, Ale-Liance IPA, Imperial Brave Horse Double IPA, Hopvine IPA, Sour Apricot Brown, and Sour Raspberry Brown. Wow! Don’t miss this.” (Billed as part of Portland Beer Week I believe.)
