Oregon Beer News, 07/10/2013
Happy Hump Day! Here’s the Oregon beer news I’ve been collecting from around the web. As usual, I’ll be periodically updating this post throughout the day with the latest news, so check back often for updates. And if you have news to share, please contact me and I can get that updated as well.
Worthy Brewing (Bend) is releasing their first (I believe) bottled beer this month, Gary’s No Quit Wit, dedicated to Gary Bonacker, cancer survivor and founder of the Tour des Chutes charity bike ride here in Central Oregon. “To honor Gary’s spirit, Worthy has brewed a special beer: Gary’s No Quit Wit, a true to style Belgian wit. Gary’s No Quit Wit is the perfect beer to cap off an exhilarating ride, walk, run, hike, or day in the garden. Straw-colored and cloudy, this crisp, tart and refreshing wit is as good as it’s aroma suggests.” For every case of the 22-ounce bottles sold, Worthy will donate $2 to the Tour de Chutes (whose own proceeds benefit the St. Charles Cancer Survivorship Program here in Bend). Look for the beer to go on sale July 24 in bottles, and it will be tapped at Worthy today at noon.
Mazama Brewing (Corvallis): If you’ve been curious about this brand-new brewer and haven’t visited their brewery yet, this Friday the 12th they are doing a tap takeover at Growl Movement (relatively new growler fill station in Keizer, north of Salem). “We’re taking over the taps at Growl Movement Friday at 5 pm! We’ll be there until they close with all of our beers, and we will have some fun Mazama Brewing stuff to give out as. So bring your favorite growler and stop in to meet our brewer and taste all of our beers!”
Lompoc Brewing (Portland) had the release of the first in their new “Classic Rock IPA” series tonight, Hop Blooded IPA, at the Sidebar starting at 4pm. “Hop Blooded IPA, brewed by Grant in reference to the famed song by Foreigner. The release party will take place from 4-10pm. We’ll also be showing the movie Dazed and Confused, starting at 8pm.”
Oakshire Brewing (Eugene): They’ve brewed up a special Single Batch beer for this year’s Oregon Brewers Festival at the end of the month: “Prepare yourselves for the release of 26 Imperial Oregon Ale! We’ll have a sneak preview party in our Public House next Tuesday 7/16 at 6p for our loyal Eugene fans + anyone who wants a taste before the official release at OBF. Our brewers will be on hand to answer any questions.” If it’s like the “25” they brewed last year, there will be 26 ingredients in this beer total! Don’t miss this one!
