Oregon Beer News, 07/14/2015
Happy Tuesday! It’s not related to beer, but is anyone else as enthralled with the New Horizons Pluto flyby this past week or so? Utterly amazing! Back on Earth, here’s the news in Oregon beer; as usual, I’ll be periodically updating this post throughout the day, so check back often for the latest news. If you have news to share, please contact me and I can get that updated as well.
Breakside Brewery (Portland) is the first featured brewery of Belmont Station’s annual Puckerfest which starts today! Belmont is hosting Breakside’s Passion Fruit Sour Bottle release, and more, today from 4 to 7pm: “We’ll have folks from the brewery on hand to chat, and we’ll be pouring several tasty treats: Passion Fruit Sour, Bellweather [double wit aged in gin barrels], Bricolage [with Brett], Frambosie.” Don’t miss out!

An Oak spiral is cured for one week in a small amount of Maker’s Mark. The Spiral is then placed in the keg for 3 weeks, giving the beer more complexity in both body and aroma.”
The BeerMongers (Portland) has a “farewell tap takeover” for Elysian Brewing’s Steve Luke starting at 5pm today: “Elysian R&D brewer Steve Luke is leaving to start his own brewery, Cloudburst, so we’ve teamed up with Elysian to celebrate Steve’s amazing abilities and offer up some of his greatest brews!
