Oregon Beer News, 07/19/2017
Today is National Hot Dog Day—yes, really. Hot dogs and beer, how can you go wrong? Here’s the news in Oregon beer for this Wednesday, July 19—I’ll be sure to highlight any hot dog-related items. As usual, I’ll be periodically updating this post throughout the day with the latest news, so check back often for updates. And if you have news to share, please contact me and I can get that updated as well.
Ecliptic Brewing (Portland) is hosting Beer and Burgers for Brains all day today in support for the National Brain Tumor Society: “Come hang out at Ecliptic Brewing on July 19th and eat and drink to support Team Brewpublic and the National Brain Tumor Society. A portion of sales from the day will be donated to support Angelo from Brewpublic and nearly 600,000 others living with brain tumors.” Make sure to head over there for lunch or dinner and a few pints today.
McMenamins Oak Hills Brewpub (Portland) is holding their From the Fishbowl beer tasting from 5 to 8pm today, featuring Elsinore Vanilla Cream Ale: “Elsinore Vanilla Cream Ale is light, creamy, and slightly sweet. It pours from our Nitro faucet, which provides it with a delicate smoothness. This brew was crafted with Wheat, Dextrapils, Flaked Barley and Corn Flakes, all on a bed of 2-Row and Vienna Malts to provide the tasty grain flavors; paired with just the right amount of Chinook and Horizon Hops for bitterness and balance.”
Belmont Station (Portland): Puckerfest continues today, featuring “A pFriem pFruit Salad” from 5 to 8pm: “The pFriem Family of Brewers will be hanging out talking about the wide variety of pFruited Lambic-style and wild beers. We will be giving away pFriem branded glassware (while supplies last).” They are looking to have nine pFriem beers on tap! Also, in the Cafe they will be pouring some vintage Russian River sours all day long: “We’ve been holding on to these gems from Russian River for this very special occasion! Supplication (2013), Consecration (2014), and Temptation (2014).” Definitely a good day to visit for sour lovers!
Rogue Ales Eastside Pub & Pilot Brewery in Portland has their Green Dragon Brew Crew release tonight starting at 5pm, featuring Centennial IPA: “Bittered with Warrior® hops and finished with huge additions of classic Centennial hops this IPA has subtle, delicious notes of citrus fruit and fresh pine. 6.6% ABV, 65 IBUs”
Baerlic Brewing (Portland) has a beer release today kicking off at 4pm: Acid Drop Sour IPA. “We’re stoked to finally release an idea we’ve had for nearly a year now—a kettle-soured IPA. Available in bottles, draft and pouring at the Oregon Brewers Fest under the name Dropping Acid IPA. What happens when you brew a beer with the hop load of a modern NW IPA and trade out the bitterness for acidity? A psychedelic journey of intense grapefruit, pear and tangerine that melds with a slightly sour and snappy beer that bends the time/space continuum and alters your perception of reality. Whoa… trippy! The idea is to attempt the perfect balance of acidity with hop bitterness, flavor and aroma of El Dorado, Amarillo and Comet hops.”
Great Notion Brewing (Portland) is hosting Fort George Brewery for a tap takeover from 5 to 8pm: “Fort George Tap Takeover @ Great Notion Brewing. Harder to get beers on draft include: WALDORF PILSNER, SUCKER PUNCH, RASPBERRY DAZE IPA, 3-WAY IPA (obviously!), and MATRYOSHKA IMPERIAL STOUT W/COCOA NIBS & RASPBERRIES”
