Oregon Beer News, 08/29/2017
Here is the news in Oregon beer for this final Tuesday in August. As usual, I’ll be periodically updating this post throughout the day, so check back often for the latest news. If you have news to share, please contact me and I can get that updated as well.
Ninkasi Brewing (Eugene): Today’s Pints for a Cause fundraiser is going to benefit NEDCO (Neighborhood Economic Development Corporation): “Join us at the Tasting Room for Pints for a Cause! From noon to 10pm, $1 from each pint sold in the Tasting Room will go to NEDCO.” Definitely stop by and enjoy a pint or three to help out.
Deschutes Brewery (Bend) has their Community Pints day today at both of their pubs. Community Pints takes place every Tuesday, and $1 of every pint sold goes to benefit a local charitable organization. For the month of August, the Bend Pub is benefiting Volunteers in Medicine Clinic of the Cascades, and the Portland Pub is benefiting Voz Workers’ Rights Education Project. Next month will be new organizations. Make sure to visit one of the pubs and help out with several pints!
Level Beer (Portland) has the first of their in-house beers releasing today, including some fresh hops! “We are finally making beer and we’re releasing four of them tomorrow. I’m pretty sure you’ll want to drink them. Game On! – fresh hop (centennials) strong pale, Ready Player One – fresh hop (santiams) saison, And the Crowd Goes Mild – english dark mild, and Let’s Play! – dry hopped (stratas) pilsner”
Cascade Brewing (Portland): Tonight’s Tap It Tuesday at 6pm at the Barrel House is featuring Mangocot: “a single barrel sour strong blond ale aged 15 months in a wine barrel with dried mangos blended with young apricot stock from the 2017 vintage of our Apricot series. This refreshing summer blend features intense notes of mango and strong acidity rounded out by the delicate flavor and aroma of fresh apricot preserves (7.8%).”
Culmination Brewing (Portland) has the release of their Kriek today, along with Kriek Noir: “It’s that time of year again when we release Culmination Kriek. This year will be extra special because we will also be releasing a delicious variation of our Kriek called Kriek Noir, made with special dark malt and refermented cherries. Both beers are based on our Flanders style red recipie and aged for 12 months. These beers both come in at 7.5% a.b.v. and they are rich in cherry, oak and spices. You don’t want to miss out on these beers! Cheers!”
Portland’s Baerlic Brewing has fresh hops out today too! Their Fresh Hop Early Bird Pale is the first in several releases this week: “Our favorite time of year is upon us! Fresh Hop season starts NOW! ABOUT THE BEER: Early Bird Pale Ale conditioned on Freshly Picked Centennial hops from Crosby Hop Farm—a fifth generation hop farm located in Woodburn, OR. 5% ABV and insanely chuggable. This is the First of Three Fresh Hop beers we are doing this year!” The release for the beer is from 4 to 6pm.
