Oregon Beer News, 09/26/2013
Here’s the Oregon beer news for Thursday, September 26. As usual, I’ll be periodically updating this post throughout the day with the latest news as I find it, so check back often. And if you have news to share, please contact me and I can get that posted as well.
Occidental Brewing (Portland) is holding their Oktoberfest celebration this Saturday the 28th: “The best party of the year, Occidental Oktoberfest will be taking place September 28th, at the brewery, all day, 12 pm to 10pm. We will again have live music, food from Urban German, and of course, 2013 Festbier! Also, Brewvana Brewery Tours will be operating a FREE shuttle for us, running from the brewery to Lloyd Center and back, all day! This year all beer will be drank from glass, as we have souvenir .5L mugs! $10 gets you your mug and first beer, all subsequent beers will be $4, as always.”
McMenamins Highland Pub (Gresham) is holding a meet the brewer and special tasting today starting at 5pm for a Dry-Hopped Thundercone. I’m not sure if this means the regular fresh-hopped Thundercone was subsequently dry-hopped with dry or fresh hops (it doesn’t say in the description), but either way: Fresh hop beer!
Speaking of fresh hop beer, Worthy Brewing (Bend) has one going on tap today: “Hop Gusher, our Fresh Hop Session IPA is on tap now. We threw in 100 lbs. of fresh Meridian hops to give it a crisp, minty tea-like hop flavor. A mild spiciness and delicate yeast character round out this refreshing brew and, at just 5% ABV, it’s super drinkable.”
Rat Hole Brewing (Bend) has brewed up a pumpkin beer that will go on tap on October 1. I loves me some pumpkin beers, and for some reason there aren’t too many local breweries that make them. (Silver Moon, Deschutes, and maybe 10 Barrel off the top of my head are the others.) I’ll have to seek this one out!
