Oregon Beer News, 09/27/2012
Here’s the Oregon beer news for Thursday, the 27th of September. As usual I’ll be periodically updating this post throughout the day with the latest news, so check back often for the latest updates. And if you have news you’d like to share, please contact me and I can get that updated as well.
Full Sail Brewing (Hood River) is celebrating their 25th anniversary today, with their new “25” pale Doppelbock and a special toast (and party!) at their Hood River pub and tasting room today at 5pm, and at the Horse Brass Pub in Portland at 6. Full Sail is one of Oregon’s seminal breweries and brews some damn fine beers, so let’s everyone join them in their toast today (virtually if you can’t make it in person). Big kudos to Full Sail!
Belmont Station (Portland) is hosting an Ayinger bottle tasting today from 6 to 8pm, the brewery’s excellent Oktoberfest beer (of course) and more: “Meet Jhon of Merchant du Vin, the importer of Ayinger. He will be in the bottle shop pouring free samples of Celebrator, Altbairisch Dunkel, Oktober Fest-Marzen, Brau-Weisse, Jahrhudert and Ur Weisse.”
McMenamins Highland Pub & Brewery (Gresham) has a special beer tasting for coffee-infused Terminator Stout today starting at 5pm; the beer is brewed with McMenamins’ own iced coffee extract and sounds pretty tasty. It’s just the single keg, so when it’s gone, it’s gone.
The Green Dragon (Portland) has a meet the brewer and tasting tonight featuring Hood River’s new Pfriem Family Brewery: ” Pfriem Family Brewers is a Northwest & Belgian inspired 15-barrel brewery and tasting room in Hood River, OR. Some of the beers on tap will be Pfriem Belgian Imperial Stout, Pfriem Beligan IPA, Pfriem Fresh Hop, and Pfriem Wit.” The beers are tapped at 5pm, and the meet the brewer portion starts at 6.
Base Camp Brewing (Portland): This new brewery is just getting started and already they have plans for bottling—in aluminum! “(Bottle > Can, Aluminum > Glass) = (Base Camp 22s > Awesome) It’s only logical. Keep your lookin’ balls peeled for these bad boys, hitting shelves in late October.” The picture they posted is awfully attractive as well.
Brew Werks Brewing (Bend): The first beer has rolled off their new system! “The wait is over – Michael is kegging up the first batch of the new Neurotic Blonde and we think you’ll agree the finished product is even better than our previous efforts.” That should be showing up at the Old Mill Brew Werks pub shortly.
