Oregon Beer News 10/09/2018
Are you ready for another arbitrary beer day? Today is International Beer and Pizza Day, which is exactly as it sounds, so celebrate accordingly. I haven’t run across any pizza-and-beer-specific news (yet) but you can always order pizza from many of the pubs listed below. The rest of the Oregon beer news is below as well, for this Tuesday, October 9; I’ll be updating this post throughout the day so keep checking back for the latest.
Laurelwood Brewing (Portland) is hosting its 16th annual Dine Out to Wipe Out Cancer fundraiser today at its Northeast pub. “[Today] is a big day of supporting the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society with our 16th annual Dine Out to Wipe Out Cancer! Come grab a pint and some food, as we will be donating 20% of the NE locations sales for the day.” All day long! There will be live music in the evening and yes, there is Pumpkin Ale on tap. It’s a good day to dine out.
Deschutes Brewery (Bend): It’s Community Pints day at the Deschutes locations, where $1 from every pint sold goes to benefit a local non-profit organization. At both Bend locations and in Portland, the brewery is donating to Planned Parenthood throughout the month of October. At the Bend Pub there will also be an information booth where you can find out more. Make sure to stop in and help out with a pint or three!
There are two Oregon McMenamins locations hosting Friends and Family Night fundraisers tonight starting at 5pm, where 50% of the night’s proceeds are donated to a local group or organization:

Hopworks Urban Brewery (Portland) highlights its October community partner in a blog post today: “For the month of October, we are proud to donate 1% of our pint sales at all 3 pubs to Zenger Farm. Zenger Farm is a working urban farm that models, promotes and educates about sustainable food systems, environmental stewardship, community development and access to good food for all. At Zenger Farm, they believe that communities thrive when people have a direct connection to their food and where it grows.” Sounds like a great cause and you can read more at the link.
Portland’s Ruse Brewing has the first of several new beers releasing out today: “This is day one of 3 new beers we will be releasing this week, pictured here is The Stages of Dusk, a nice 8.2% stout brewed with a ton of oats and aged on cacao. Also, come hang out at @nwipapdx this Thursday for a Ruse tap takeover.”
